Bovada Poker | Bodog Network Tournament Cancellation Policies

Information direct from Bovada's website as it relates to tournament cancellations, refunds, and policies.

In an online poker room, Internet connection issues and disconnections are a reality. We will do our best to limit interruptions during a tournament. However, we do not assume responsibility for problems not related to game server performance. Certain internet issues may be unavoidable, and that's why we give players disconnection protection in the form of extra time to reconnect when players are in the last rounds of a tournament. If players choose to sit out or are unable to reconnect, cards will still be automatically dealt to them and blinds and antes posted. Players that are unable to reconnect during the allotted time will have their hands automatically folded. If a player is disconnected during a hand where the action is checked to them, the hand will be checked unless a specific action is needed by the player.

In the event of a server interruption, all hands will be rolled back to the start of the interrupted hand, and all chip stacks returned to the amounts before the hand started. If the tournament must be canceled, participating players will be compensated based on our Tournament Cancellation Policy, which is displayed below.

In the event that a tournament must be canceled, we make it a priority to compensate all players in the fairest way possible. Depending on the state that a tournament is in when cancelled, the following methods of resolution will be used:

Tournament Refund: We will issue tournament refunds if a tournament has been canceled prior to starting OR if the tournament is canceled prior to one or more players being eliminated from the tournament. In this case, all players registered for the tournament will have their buy-in and fees refunded (including re-buys and add-ons if applicable). All refunds are issued in the same method in which players bought in. If a player bought in with a Tournament Ticket then the ticket would be returned.

Cancellation with No Players in the Money: When no players are in the money and a tournament is canceled, all remaining players will be refunded their entry fee and the prize pool will be divided based on the below formula:

50% of the prize pool is distributed evenly among all players remaining.
50% of the prize pool is distributed proportionally based on chip count.

Cancellation with All Players in the Money: When all players are in the money, all remaining players will be refunded their entry fee and the prize pool will be divided based on the below formula:

Each player receives the minimum prize not yet awarded at the time of cancellation.
The remainder of the prize pool is distributed proportionally based on chip count.

One-on-One (Heads Up) Sit and Go Tournaments: As the outcome of a heads up tournament can be affected when one player stays connected while another does not, we reserve the right to perform a chip count distribution should our site experience a downtime that warrants the cancellation of any tournaments.

Guaranteed Tournaments: If a tournament with a guaranteed prize pool is canceled when players are NOT in the money, the payout will be based on the prize pool composed of buy-ins only. When players are in the money, the payout will be based on the guaranteed amount if the buy-ins fail to comprise the guaranteed amount.

Disconnection Protection: What happens if you've got money on the table, and you get disconnected? No worries. Bovada Poker's disconnection protection is set to identify online poker players that have been fully disconnected from the game server. Of course, if you're still connected and don't act in time, the protection doesn't apply. You'll time out of the hand and the hand will be folded. You'll be placed on ‘Auto Fold' in tournaments or ‘Sit Out' in cash games until you return to the table.

If a player is disconnected during a hand, the software will recognize they are no longer connected. In the case of a disconnection, the player will be awarded an additional 30 seconds to act. If the player successfully reconnects within that time, the tables (and/or tournaments) they were playing will open automatically (if not already open), and they will have at least 10 seconds to act. If the player does not act in these 30 seconds, their hand will be folded. Extra time will only be awarded when a player is disconnected from Bovada Poker. In the occurrence of a system lag not attributed to Bovada regardless of the cause, if the player does not act in the specified time period the hand in question will be folded. In the event a player is disconnected during a hand where the action is checked to the said player, the hand will be checked unless a specific action is required by the player.
