Mac Compatible Online Poker Rooms & Software Reviews

Mac, or Windows PC? Mac or Windows... You chose the Mac-friendly option. Cool deal. We like Macs too! So now what? You are getting ready to play at one of the many reputable US-friendly online poker rooms, yet you aren't using a clunky PC - you're an Apple or Mac fan! It can be tough though to find a Mac-friendly online poker site because not all internet poker rooms are Mac-friendly. Well, finally, with that in mind, Professional Rakeback has created for you a one-stop page for full information on where you can enjoy playing online poker and how you can do so on your Mac computer, iPhone, iPad, or any iOS device or compatible accessory.

Seven years ago, your number of options was myriad. This was back before the catastrophic "Black Friday" event shut down the major US-friendly poker sites, such as PokerStars, Full Tilt, Absolute Poker, and Ultimate Bet (all of which had wonderful and fluid Mac clients). Post-Black Friday, for years there was simply a dearth of Mac poker options available. However, slowly but surely, the remaining legal US-friendly sites started polishing up their existing Mac clients and some of those who didn't already have them created them. You might be surprised to learn that at present there are five poker networks that have functional, Mac-friendly poker software available for you to play on. The quality of the product offered varies, but we have placed these sites in the rough order in which we think you'll enjoy them, and we’ll tell you why we rank them so highly. We'll also link you to our more in-depth reviews if you want to learn more about the rooms themselves.

Simply scroll among the pre-tested, pre-vetted options below, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact us through any of our available methods using the contact us link at the bottom of every page on our website.

Ignition | Ignition Mac/Apple Poker Client Information

Mac system requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.7 (64 bit)
  • Intel Core duo processor or faster
  • 1 GB memory (RAM) or more
  • 250 MB of available disk space
  • Flash Player v. 16 or later

Pros:

  • Mac client rates 4.5 out of 5 stars for usability / playability / stability
  • Largest poker site available to US players for cash games and tournaments
  • Fast and easy deposits and withdrawals via credit card, cash transfers, Bitcoin, checks, and bank wires
  • Compatible with iHoldem Indicator
  • Up to $1,000 poker bonus and $1,000 casino bonus

Cons:

    • Some players dislike the anonymous tables with no player names (security is good, don't worry!)
    • Full poker tables are hidden in the poker lobby so there appear to be fewer games running than there actually are

Ignition Poker has made it easy with a fully featured Mac poker client available to all players. This client is downloadable, runs pretty smoothly on most OS, and is updated typically once or twice per month to insure smooth operation. Our only complaint is that some players need to reinstall the software from scratch after major updates to achieve maximum stability while playing. Other than that, the Mac version of this software is just as feature-rich as the Windows versions and in some cases runs even faster.

We've put Ignition at the top of this list if for no other reason than that it is the largest site available to Americans who want to partake in some online games using their Mac. In fact, Ignition is the flagship operator of the third largest poker network available in the world! If you are interested in learning more about Ignition's sportsbook, casino and poker options, simply head on over to our Ignition Poker and Casino review page. From here you can also create your new account, or you can simply click here to create an account now and take advantage to up to $2,000 in deposit bonuses!  Once you've signed up, you'll be able to download the Mac client and participate in all the available games.

BetOnline and Sportsbetting on Macs

Mac system requirements:

  • OS X 10.7 or above
  • Intel Core Duo 1.83 GHz or faster processor
  • 512 MB memory (RAM) but 1 GB+ recommended

Pros:

  • $2,500 bonus available on first deposit
  • Tourney leaderboards, rake races, comp points and more for continuous rewards
  • Many cashier options to make depositing and withdrawing a breeze

Cons:

  • Free withdrawals only available on one Friday per month
  • Confusing website layout

Chico Poker Network and its two US-facing skins, BetOnline and Sportsbetting.ag, allow Mac fans to hit the tables without hassles because they have a dedicated poker program for these users. This isn’t the largest spot for online poker in the world, but it’s far from the smallest, and you’ll find a decent amount of tables going for both No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha.

Get ready to claim your 100% up to $2,500 bonus on your first deposit, which, apart from being one of the largest bonuses out there, also clears at about a 33% cashback rate. Then prepare yourself for leaderboard prizes, free tourney entries through your comp points, and the occasional reload offer. The players you’ll encounter at this network aren’t exactly renowned for their poker acumen, and it’s not too hard to locate a table with several fish present. Read our reviews of BetOnline and Sportsbetting.ag, and then join up at whichever one you prefer.

Mac system requirements:

  • Undetermined at this time as the software is still in public beta testing

Pros:

  • Client rates 3 and 3/4 stars out of five
  • Frequent promotions for multiple game types
  • Highest rewards VIP program of any site available in the US market
  • $1,000,000 guaranteed tournaments scheduled every other month
  • Weekly rake races for volume players in both cash games and sit and goes

Cons:

  • It is still in beta testing as of April 6, 2017
  • Jackpot SNGs not available in beta client

Don't let the name fool you; America's Cardroom is available to virtually all players world wide.  They are currently the eigth largest online poker room in the world and they are growing rapidly! The introduction of their Mac client will only help to propel them up the ranks. As of this update, April 6, 2017, the Americas Cardroom Mac poker client is still in beta testing, but reports from our clients say that the Mac software is quite stable at this time. Our conversations with ACR management lead us to believe that the fully featured Mac version will go live some time in Q1 or Q2 2017.

The Winning Poker Network is the only other poker network in the world besides Poker Stars to offer $1,000,000 guaranteed tournaments to its players. And as this poker site is available to US players, whereas Joker Stars is not, this is the only opportunity that American players have to play in the type of large online poker tournaments that were available pre-Black Friday.  They also offer a VIP rewards program that is more lucrative than any option available on any other poker site in the world (it is basically Stars's old VIP program with weekly rake races added on!). For lower volume players, there is a 27% flat rakeback program available.  To learn more about Americas Cardroom and the Winning Poker Network, check out our ACR review. If you're ready to sign up now, you can claim a $1,000 deposit match bonus, $50 in free tourney bucks, and a freeroll invitation by clicking here to create an account.

Intertops and Juicy Stakes Mac/Apple Compatible Poker Client

Mac system requirements:

  • Safari Browser
  • Microsoft Silverlight

Pros:

  • 200% up to $1,000 poker bonus
  • Weekly rake races that are easy to place in

Cons:

  • Web-based rather than Mac-specific
  • Not compatible with Chrome browser

Intertops Poker is one of the most trusted sportsbook and casino brands in all of online gaming while Juicy Stakes offers US players a very comparable experience. Intertops offers a sleek Instant Play browser feature, so Mac Safari poker users can enjoy the same benefits and reap the same rewards as players on PCs! Juicy Stakes does not offer a specific Mac-compatible client, but players can opt to try using a Mac supported browser or operating system at their own risk. However, they should be warned that any issues that may arise are not offered support by Juicy's staff. (Don't worry – it's the same software on both sites, so it should run just fine!)

Your computer must have the latest version of Microsoft's Silverlight installed to properly run the Instant Play poker feature. It is free to download and only takes a few moments to install. Intertops even walks you through the process if you hit "Play Now" without it!

As well, ProfRB strongly recommends that you allow | enable pop-up windows as this allows you to view all needed pages, such as your player rewards, the cashier, and other useful content. However, for your own security reasons, you can make this setting applicable only to Intertops.eu if you prefer.

At this time, Instant Play is suitable for the Safari browser only. Mac Chrome does not currently support Instant Play - but please note that Instant Play is still in beta, and improvements in features and gaming options will be continuing. Players can currently enjoy all of Intertops' poker ring games and tournaments, and Instant Play allows for up to four tables to be tiled at the current time.

In order to sign up at one of these fine Revolution Gaming Network Mac poker rooms, please visit our Intertops Poker Review or our Juicy Stakes Review. *Both Juicy Stakes rakeback and Intertops rakeback are available at the rate of 36%!

Grand Poker Network on Macs

Mac system requirements:

  • OS X 10.6.8+
  • Intel Processor
  • 300MB of available disk space
  • 1 GB memory (RAM) or more
  • Broadband internet connection
  • Minimum display resolution of 1024x720

Pros:

  • Qt application framework for quick rollout of new versions
  • 50%+ rakeback for every player
  • $500 freeroll every Sunday

Cons:

  • Limited player volume
  • Lack of freezeout tournaments

Grand Poker is a relatively new poker network that opened its doors in late 2014. Despite its status as a fledgling entity, it has deployed a completely Mac-compatible download application along with the standard Windows poker client. There’s even a no-download, instant play solution for people with iPhones, iPads and other mobile devices. This poker room was founded by the experienced 5Dimes group, which was a member of a number of different poker networks before deciding to start its own. Software development at Grand Poker is conducted using the Qt cross-platform framework, which allows coders to rapidly generate versions for Windows, Mac OS and other types of systems without a lengthy porting process.

Grand Poker is the smallest of the sites we’ve outlined here, which makes sense because it’s also the newest. There are only a handful of cash games running at any one time, and the tournament schedule is pretty weak with only small-stakes events in the lineup and just a few freezeout tourneys on offer. On the other hand, the fields are remarkably soft, so when you do find a game you like, you’ll have a good opportunity to profit. The standard rakeback setup is an incredible 50%+, provided through a series of special reward tournaments. You can also get a 200% up to $2,500 bonus, but this bonus clears very slowly. Click here to create a new account with Grand Poker or one of its network partners.

Mac Compatible Online Poker Software Reviews

Here we will review a variety of productivity tools available for use on your Mac. These tools, vetted by our staff and our players, should help to improve your efficiency, record keeping, and ultimately your profitability.

Mac-Friendly Poker HUD Software

Internet poker is a different beast than its brick-and-mortar cousin, live poker. The skill sets needed to beat players in a live casino game, such as reading body language for example, are useless in an online environment. Instead, savvy players rely on other information such as reading a player’s timing tells and betting patterns. There are other tricks of the trade however, and since we are using our Mac computers to play – you guessed it – there are software programs to help you gain an edge over your opposition.

Some programs are illegal, such as bots that play for you. Don't worry; the security teams at all of the aforementioned sites have special software to root out and find unethical players using bots to play on their behalf. Whenever botters or colluders are discovered, their accounts are closed and winnings forfeit. Other programs are perfectly legal such as heads up displays, or HUDs, and hand tracking software. Our favorite Mac compatible software is iHoldem Indicator. This versatile program displays real-time stats about your and your opponents’ playing styles. It’s compatible with Ignition Poker, Chico Poker sites and Americas Cardroom.
