WPN's OSS Cub3d Series Returns Aug. 13 - Sept. 10

Winning Poker Network Logo

The Winning Poker Network, including Americas Cardroom, BlackChip Poker, and several other skins, has announced the next incarnation of its popular OSS Cub3d tournament series. It will take place from Aug. 13 to Sept. 10 and contain 141 events. The prize pool across all tournaments is guaranteed to be no less than $6.7 million.

OSS Cub3d Schedule

The reason that this series is called “Cub3d” is because it's actually three series in one. The Mini Online Super Series (MOSS) kicks off Aug. 13 and runs until Aug. 20. There are 47 tourneys with buyins from $0.06 to $88, so it's priced to fit those on tighter bankrolls. The Online Super Series (OSS) begins Aug. 23 and concludes Sept. 3. Its 77 events span the range from $1.10 to $540. High-rollers will appreciate the Bigger Online Super Series (BOSS): a roster of 17 events that cost between $109 and $2,100 to enter that will be held from Sept. 6 to Sept. 10.

There's plenty of variety in the structures and formats of the poker tournaments. Besides the regular No Limit Hold'em freezeouts, there are R&A events, fast-paced hypers, deep-stacked marathons, shorthanded aggro-fests, and more. Pot Limit Omaha Hi, PLO8, and NLO8 fans have a few selections available to them as do partisans of Seven Card Stud Hi and Hi-Lo. Just like last time, though, there are zero Limit Hold'em contests in the lineup, which is pretty disappointing when we consider that the organizers had 141 separate opportunities to provide at least some fixed-limit Hold'em action. Keep your eyes on the following noteworthy competitions:

  • $80 + $8 $250,000 Gtd. MOSS MAIN EVENT: Sunday, Aug. 20 at 4:00 p.m. ET
  • $500 + $40 $1,000,000 Gtd. OSS MAIN EVENT: Sunday, Sept. 3 at 4:00 p.m. ET (Million Dollar Sunday)
  • $2,000 + $100 $750,000 Gtd. BOSS MAIN EVENT: Sunday, Sept. 10 at 4:00 p.m. ET
  • $200 + $15 $60,000 Gtd. Sunday Special PLO: Sunday, Sept. 10 at 1:00 p.m. ET (Largest PLO Event)
  • $100 + $9 $25,000 Gtd. PLO/8 Tournament: Thursday, Sept. 7 at 3:30 p.m. ET (Largest PLO/8 Event)

OSS Cub3d Extra Goodies

As the poker action unfolds, players will receive points toward a series leaderboard. For every event someone enters, he or she will receive credit according to a formula based upon finishing position, field size, and buyin. The top three people atop the leaderboard at the conclusion of the OSS Cub3d will receive $4,900 packages to the 2017 Punta Cana Poker Classic in the Dominican Republic where they will get to enjoy entry into a $1,500 + $150 live poker MTT and the hospitality of the luxurious Melia Caribe hotel. These three winners will also take home engraved, sterling silver bracelets, which will be additionally issued to the victors in the three series Main Events.

Satellites Abound

If you don't want to pay full price for your OSS Cub3d tournaments, then you can try to win inexpensive seats with the myriad satellites that WPN offers. Dozens of satellites are already listed in the lobby for a few of the earlier OSS Cub3d events, and we can expect even more to pop up as we approach the start date of the series.

OSS Cub3d History

The last installment of OSS Cub3d ran in April and May of this year and came with guarantees totaling $5.7 million. Thus, the series starting in August represents a $1,000,000 increase over the previous guaranteed amount. This is quite a leap for the Winning Poker Network to take, but it makes sense when we look at what actually happened last time. $7,996,090 was awarded, and not a single OSS Cub3d tournament in April or May overlaid by a single cent. The bump up in the money to be paid out therefore isn't an overly optimistic move; rather, it's a sensible step given the overwhelming success of the prior series.

The $5.7 million guarantee from the earlier OSS Cub3d itself represented a jump from the $4.5 million of the initial debut of the series in 2016. The Winning Poker Network is evidently following a strategy of raising the guaranteed prizes with each iteration until participation fails to keep up. As long as customers keep logging in and registering, WPN will continue to host bigger and bigger events. The presence of huge tourney prize pools is one reason why we named Americas Cardroom the top destination for online poker tournaments in the United States.

You Can't Play Without an Account

If you've yet to experience the poker games at the Winning Poker Network, then there's no reason to delay opening up an account and joining the OSS Cub3d excitement. Whichever network site you choose, you'll get a 100% up to $1,000 bonus and the choice between 27% rakeback and Elite Benefits rewards. We recommend Americas Cardroom because it also grants newcomers $50 free to use on Jackpot Poker SNGs. Despite its name, ACR is open to most players from the rest of the world in addition to the United States. Here are our reviews of the other WPN sites: BlackChip Poker, True Poker, Ya Poker (non-US), PokerHost. If you'd rather play someplace else, then we have you covered with our list of real-money USA poker sites.
