OSS Cub3d Returns with $5.7 Million in Guaranteed Prize Money

WPN logoWinning Poker Network is putting on another OSS Cub3d online poker tournament series, this time with $5.7 million in guarantees! As usual, we take a look at the series, highlight the best tournaments, and have other information for you within...

OSS Cub3d MTT Series Returning to Winning Poker Network

After its successful debut last year, the OSS Cub3d series of tournaments will once again be held at Americas Cardroom and the rest of the Winning Poker Network. It will run from April 9 to May 7, 2017 and will consist of 141 events. There’s over $5.7 million in guaranteed prizes to be awarded, an increase of more than $1 million from the guarantees in effect during the inaugural running of this series. ACR’s poker tournaments are fully accessible to players in the United States, and it’s pretty rare to find such large prize pools at any U.S.-facing poker room. The plethora of tournaments spread at Americas Cardroom is a reason why it’s one of the best poker sites around for residents of the States, but it’s also open to those from most other countries around the world.

OSS Cub3d Schedule

Rather than amalgamating all the events together in a hodgepodge fashion, the Winning Poker Network has decided to divide them into three distinct sub-series: the Mini Online Super Series (MOSS) for low-stakes players, the Online Super Series (OSS) for those on more comfortable bankrolls and the Bigger Online Super Series (BOSS) for all the ballers out there. The 47 events of the MOSS will run from April 9 to April 16 and feature buyins from $0.06 to $88. After a few days’ break, the OSS will start on April 19 and continue through to April 30, during which time 77 tournaments will take place at stakes of between $1.10 and $1,050. The BOSS contains only 17 MTTs, scheduled for May 3 - May 7, but it will cost between $55 and $5,100 to enter each one of them. Each of these three sets of tourneys has its own Main Event:

  • $80 +$8 $200K Gtd MOSS Main Event: Sunday, April 16 at 4:00 p.m. ET
  • $540 + $40 $1 Million Gtd OSS Main Event: Sunday, April 30 at 4:00 p.m. ET
  • $2,000 + $100 $750K Gtd BOSS Main Event: Sunday, May 7 at 4:00 p.m. ET

OSS Cub3d Tournament Variety

Besides the humdrum regular-speed freezeout events, you’ll also find R&A tournaments, turbos and hyperturbos, knockout tourneys and more in the list of diverse OSS Cub3d events. No Limit Texas Hold’em will account for the bulk of the action, but PLO lovers should be pleased by the dozen competitions that will be held in this popular format. The lineup also contains a smattering of PLO/8, NLO and NLO/8 along with a single, solitary Stud/8 event. Conspicuous by its absence is Limit Hold’em. Granted, it’s not the most common game these days like it was decades ago, but still, there must be more LHE players around than, say, NLO/8 fans.

Win a Bracelet and Vacation

There’s a cool perk that will be shipped to six highly performing individuals after the end of OSS Cub3d: an engraved, sterling silver bracelet. It’s not quite in the same category perhaps as a WSOP gold bracelet, but it’s nevertheless a nice piece of physical jewelry to celebrate noteworthy poker success. The winners of the three main events will receive one apiece. The other three will go to the top three point scorers in the series leaderboard. The amount of points a player collects toward the leaderboard for a given tournament will depend on his or her finishing position, the number of participants and the size of the buyin. In addition to their bracelets, the three leaderboard victors will each receive a $4,900 package to the Punta Cana Poker Classic, which will be held at the luxurious Melia Caribe resort in the Dominican Republic in October 2017.

Enter for Less With Satellites

Americas Cardroom and the other Winning Poker Network sites recognize that everyone can’t afford to pay full sticker price for their registrations to OSS Cub3d tournaments. Even some of the contests in the lowest-priced of the three series, the MOSS, are too costly for the bankrolls of many micro-stakes poker buffs. To achieve more balanced and widespread participation, the organizers have developed a full roster of satellites, some of which are now visible in the poker lobby. Most of these feeder events have buyins of less than $15 although there are a few above this threshold.
