Professional Rakeback Tigergaming Review

TigerGaming is a long-lived online poker site, having been in operation continuously since 1999. It has always been a smaller arena traffic-wise and was heavily hit by the UIGEA in 2007, which forced it to shut its doors to new American players. In recent years, however, its Chico Poker Network partners BetOnline and Sportsbetting.ag have made a strong push in the U.S. market. This has resulted in steady growth for the Chico Poker Network as a whole and TigerGaming too even though it doesn’t itself accept gamblers from the United States. While it’s still not among the top 10 largest poker rooms on the net, it is in the top 15, it does draw in a respectable amount of player volume, and there’s heavy crossover traffic from the sports and casino sides of its business, leading to some pretty soft poker tables overall. When we consider this fact in combination with the juicy 100% up to $2,500 sign up bonus and other regular promotions, we begin to see why Tiger Gaming Poker deserves to be on the radar of every poker connoisseur whether amateur or professional.

How the Welcome Bonus Works

The initial deposit bonus at TigerGaming will be applied to your account after you make your first deposit of between $50 and $2,500. You do have to request it manually, though, by sending an email to bonuses[at]tigergaming.com. Place the TigerGaming bonus code NEWTG in the subject line of your email, and include your username in the body. Within 48 hours of sending your message to support, the sum you deposited into your account will be matched 100%, dollar for dollar, with bonus funds. For the next 60 days, you’ll receive $5 of your bonus whenever you collect 1,500 comp points. You’ll get 1 comp point for every cent you contribute to the rake and 100 points for each $1 you pay in tourney fees. It’s important to note that you don’t receive any comp points for tournaments with house fees of less than $1, and any tournaments with fees that aren’t whole numbers of dollars will be rounded down to the nearest dollar when calculating comp point awards. You’ll need to rake $15 to get 1,500 comp points, which will release $5 of your bonus, for a rate of return of 33%.

First Depositor’s Freeroll

After you make a valid first deposit, you’ll get not one but two tickets to the First Depositor’s Freeroll. These free tourneys are held every Sunday at 8 p.m. ET and each hand out $5,000 in prizes to the lucky winners. You’ll receive your entries on the Friday following the date of your deposit.

Deposit Options at TigerGaming

When it’s time to fund your account, you’ll be glad to realize that the cashier options at TigerGaming are numerous. Remember that your first deposit has to fall within the range of $50 - $2,500 to qualify for the 100% match. Bearing that in mind, you can use any one of the following forms of payment:

  • Visa: $20 - $1,000 Deposit methods at Tiger Gaming poker room
  • iDebit: $10 - $10,000
  • Skrill $10 - $10,000
  • EntroPay: $10 - $10,000
  • EcoPayz: $10 - $10,000
  • Neteller: $10 - $10,000
  • Instadebit: $10 - $10,000
  • UseMyFunds: $10 - $1,500
  • Wire Transfer: $100 - $2,000

Later on, when you’re looking to request a payout of your winnings, you’ll be able to use these same processors with the exception of Visa and UseMyFunds. Tiger Gaming Poker caters to casual and low-stakes poker fans more than it does to high-rollers and professionals. Therefore, it restricts cashouts to a limit of $5,000 per week and $15,000 per 30 days although any deposits you made during this timeframe can be withdrawn on top of the $15K cap. However, $15,000 per month is much more than most players will ever have to worry about cashing out. Also, with the TigerGaming cash out guarantee, you can rest assured that your cash out will be promptly made, or else they guarantee to double the amount requested!

Cash Games

The most popular poker game in the world is No Limit Hold’em, so it only makes sense that there are more tables in this form of poker than any others. The blinds run from $0.01/$0.02 up through $5/$10 although games above $1/$2 are sparsely populated during non-peak hours. Luckily however, as this network has both US and ROW player bases, there is both a European and US poker traffic peak where a plethora of game availability can be found.

Pot Limit Omaha is spread at the same stakes in both hi-only and hi-low formats. There are usually a dozen or more games of Omaha running at any one time though multi-tablers may have to mix levels to get in the amount of play they seek. Something uncommon about both of these big-bet games is that $1.50/$3.00 and $4.00/$8.00 games are present, which you’ll seldom encounter at other online poker sites. They probably ease the transition for those seeking to advance from $1/$2 to $2/$4, as well as from $3/$6 to $5/$10 but they most likely cannibalize traffic from those stakes as well.

Limit Hold’em, Limit Omaha hi-lo, Limit Seven Card Stud and Limit Seven Card Stud hi-lo can also be found in the ring game section of the poker lobby, but games hardly ever run. This is also the case for the two non-standard games deployed at TigerGaming: NL Americana, which is a type of Five Card Stud with cards from 2 - 6 removed from the deck, and NL 32 Card Draw, which uses a similarly stripped deck but is based upon Five Card Draw. One wonders why the Chico Poker Network bothered to develop such variants when games as commonly played as Limit Omaha hi-lo and Seven Card Stud have trouble attracting enough players to get a single table going.

SNGs

Sit-and-gos run the gamut from $0.05 contests with no house fee all the way up to $525. Perhaps surprisingly for a site of modest size, even the highest SNGs on offer sometimes run. The SNGs contain two, six, eight or ten players each, and you’ll see games running with all these table sizes. There are a small number of multi-table SNGs too, but they take a while to fill up. PLO isn’t offered in sit-no-go form; neither are any of the other types of poker besides NL Hold’em.

MTTs

TigerGaming hosts lots of multi-table tournaments with low buyins of $1 or less, but at the other end of the scale, there are only a few events with sizeable entrance costs. The regular Sunday Major is not run like it is at most competitors’ sites. The first 3 (sometimes 4) Sunday’s each month the Sunday Major hosts a $50,000 guarantee with a $90 + $9 buy-in. Then, on the last Sunday of the month, instead of the standard fare, there’s a $100 + $9 that guarantees a prize pool of $100,000. Something to be aware of is that the great majority of tourneys here are R&A events, so the actual price you’ll end up paying could be much greater than what’s stated in the lobby. Look for MTTs with “Freezeout” in their names if you seek to avoid this uncertainty. All MTTs at Tiger Gaming Poker are NL Hold’em only.

Software Features

You can download the Tiger Gaming Poker client for both Windows machines as well as Macs. Information on TigerGaming’s website seems to indicate that there’s a mobile poker solution in the works or perhaps even already available, but the details aren’t exactly fleshed out in any meaningful manner at present. We’ll therefore confine our comments to the elements contained in the desktop versions of the software. Non-standard features of the TigerGaming poker download include the ability to create your own private tables, adjust the volume of every different sound effect and configure custom hotkeys. In other respects, TigerGaming’s poker suite is about par for the course with four-color decks, auto rebuy, user-configurable themes and the basic elements that you would expect from any poker application in 2017.

TigerGaming Promotions

The new player bonus is just the first of many rewards that you’ll be able to enjoy as a poker player in good standing with TigerGaming. The organization rolls out the red carpet for both new and existing clients alike. Some of the most noteworthy of the ongoing specials are:

Cash Game Leaderboards

There’s $10,000 up for grabs every week for ring game players, who will increase their standing with every 100 comp points they earn at the tables. Don’t worry; there are three separate divisions ($0.10/$.25 - $0.50/$1.00, $1/$2 - $2/$4, $3/6 - $5/10), so you’ll stand a chance of placing as long as you play above the very nanoest of nano-stakes. The top 20 contestants in each section will take home a cash prize with larger payouts available the higher the stakes you play.

SNG Leaderboards

Sit-n-go aficionados aren’t left in the cold at TigerGaming. There are three distinct leaderboards depending on if you play for small stakes (less than $2), medium buyins ($2 - $19.99) or costly SNGs ($20 and above). There’s $5,000 to be won each week, and 60 places pay (20 in each level of buyins). Only 6- and 10-handed events count toward the leaderboards, and while you do pick up a few points merely for playing, you’ll get more if you finish first, second or third.

MTT Leaderboards

Those who like large-field tournaments will be pleased with the MTT challenge at Tiger Gaming Poker. Divided into the same buyin categories as the SNG leaderboards described above, the multi-table ones also pay out $5,000 weekly. This prize money is distributed to 20 competitors in each leaderboard for a total of 60 weekly winners. The number of points you’ll earn will vary based on your finishing position and the total amount of buyins, rebuys and add-ons that all players make in the events you participate in. At the conclusion of the month, the top 100 players in each category will obtain tickets to exclusive leaderboard face off tourneys.

Bad Beat Jackpot

At specified Bad Beat Jackpot tables, if you take quad jacks or better to showdown and lose, you’ll receive a huge payday. In order to hit the jackpot, both the winning and losing player must use both hole cards, the hand must go to showdown and at least four players must have been dealt into the hand. When the Bad Beat Jackpot is paid out, the “loser” of the hand gets 35% of the pot while the winner will get 17.5%. Another 17.5% is split up among the rest of the table, and 30% of the total goes to reseed the jackpot. This jackpot is funded by extra rake taken at the rate of $0.10 for every $4 in the pot up to a maximum of $0.50 per hand. Once again, please note, players have a choice of participating in the BBJ by choosing to play on BBJ tables or standard tables – standard tables do not have an additional BBJ rake drop.

Comp Points

The comp points you get aren’t just for bonus tracking purposes. You can also use them to buy into specific tournaments. To find out whether the MTT you’re interested in accepts comp points, click on it in the lobby and then press “Register.” If comp points is an option for buying in, then you’ll see the amount of points needed to enter listed along with the normal cash price. The rate at which you can redeem points in this manner is equivalent to 5.7% of the rake paid to amass them in the first place.

TigerGaming Rakeback

There’s no legitimate flat rate TigerGaming rakeback being offered today, but the welcome bonus effectively functions as a type of rakeback. While you have the first deposit bonus active, you’ll be getting back approximately 33% of the rake you pay. This compares pretty favorably to the amount of rakeback you might be able to get at other online poker sites. The downside, of course, is that this is a time-limited benefit that will stop helping your profitability after you’re done with the bonus. On the other side of the coin, TigerGaming offers occasional poker reload bonuses, which will allow you to secure more cashback on your future play.

TigerGaming Territorial Restrictions

Unfortunately, individuals located in France, Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles, Panama, South Africa or the United States of America are prohibited from signing up at Tiger Gaming Poker. If you reside in the U.S.A., then take a look at our reviews of BetOnline and Sportsbetting.ag for online poker sites on the Chico Poker Network that are willing to accept you as a player.

Other TigerGaming Products and Services

The reason you’re reading this review is because you’re a poker player, but we should tell you about the other products that TigerGaming offers in case you wish to broaden your horizons. There’s a comprehensive sportsbook wherein you can wager on athletic competitions, a racebook covering horse races at dozens of tracks, a casino with more than 100 titles, another casino with games dealt by live dealers, and a financial market for betting on currency pairs and other money-related metrics. Good news – you can receive additional bonuses for most of these types of gambling, boosting the amount of free cash that you can liberate from the house’s stock of it.
