It’s that time of the year again! Full Tilt Poker is getting ready to launch it’s next installment of it’s exceptionally popular tournament series FTOPS XXVII! The schedule looks just as good as ever and there is a lot of fun tournaments to interest anyone and everyone.
Full Tilt Poker FTOPS XXVII
The schedule, which runs from November 30th to December 14th, features 30 events including a Main Event that boasts a $1 million guarantee with a buy-in of $635. The Main Event is a 3x RET tournament meaning you will be given your chip stack and 2 tokens to either use to add on to your chip stack at the beginning, or as bullets to use in your gun in case you find yourself on the wrong end of a hand. The Main Event is only scheduled for 1 day, unlike recent Main Events on Pokerstars in series such as the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) and Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP). The prize pool and buy-in is also smaller than those tournaments though, so that probably has something to do with why it is set up the way that it is.
The variants being spread range the spectrum from traditional No Limit Hold’em tournaments to Razz and just about everything in between. The most blatant example of this “everything in between” is the 25-game mix event being offered. The 25-game event sports a $215 fee to play and is a 3x RET event, which is probably going to save some players, as a lot of the games being played will be unfamiliar to most and you wouldn’t want to get knocked out of such a fun tournament so easily.
The rest of the events all start at $109 and go up from that price point. With that being said though, the majority of them do stay in the lower brackets of the price ranges to make sure that it is interesting to more players, especially considering the smaller traffic number of Full Tilt Poker. The most expensive is a $2,100 two day NL Hold’em event offered towards the end of the series. it is a traditional full ring tournament.
One of the most unique tournaments being offered, besides the 25-game mix of course, is a multi-starting day tournament. It’s technically listed as Event #2 on the schedule, but has starting days throughout the series with a total of 15 Day 1’s including 2 each of the last 3 days of the series. It’s listed as having a “slow” structure on PDF for the series, but it will be interesting to see how they are going to avoid eliminating too many people on one day. Also, Day 2 starts just two hours after the final Day 1 (Day 1o) starts, and it’s unclear of how exactly that will work.
Full Tilt Poker’s FTOPS series has always been popular and consistently gets the biggest names in online, and even live, poker to get somewhere that they can compete in the events. Many former US pros make the trek down to Mexico or up to Canada to chase the large prize pools and the once in a lifetime win. If you want to get in on these great tournaments, or any others from Full Tilt Poker there is a large amount of satellites running all the time to the different events.
