Leading offshore US online poker site Carbon Poker has added $500,000 to their multi-table tournament guarantees as Carbon OPS nears.
Carbon Poker, the leading real money online poker site on the Merge Gaming Network, has announced and implemented a $500,000 increase to multi-table tournament guarantees on their daily MTT schedule. The news comes just one week before the next Carbon OPS begins play on Sunday, September 14th 2014.
The additions to tournament guarantees were introduced this past Saturday. The money infused into the MTT schedule pushes Carbon's monthly tournament guarantees to nearly $7 million. Hundreds of tournaments spread out over the entirity of the online tournament schedule saw increases to their prize pools, and the increases were not simply limited to the No-Limit Holdem tournaments. Some of the highlights feature increased guarantees in several mid-to-high stakes tournaments, including a $10,000 bump to the popular Sunday Super High Roller event.

Carbon Poker has always offered its players a solid tournament schedule with buy-in amounts fit for any type of skill level. But after desegregation among partner skins occurred this past April, which gave much needed stabilization to the network and brought player pools together as a whole, the resulting player traffic pushed MTT guarantees well past their marks resulting in several increases before the summer season.
Carbon has also seen fewer overlays in its online tournaments than was expected over the past few months, which no doubt helped to prompt the most recent additions to prize pools. While overlays can be attractive for players seeking added value incentives, increased player traffic is obviously the best way to advertise an MTT schedule. And players have been consistently coming in higher numbers despite the historic slow down that accompanies the summer months.
What makes the move interesting is the increases come one week before the Carbon OPS tournament series begins play. One may think an online poker site would wait to see the results of such an event before increasing tournament guarantees. Carbon Poker appears to be taking the opposite approach - by increasing guarantees before the OPS, more players should be coming into the fold to make this one of the more successful runnings of the OPS to date.
The Carbon OPS features 79 tournaments and over $2,000,000 in guaranteed prize pools, with $500,000 coming on Main Event Sunday (9/28). The series begins on Sunday, September 14th and runs through Sunday, September 28th, with a minimum of four tournaments running each day. Games on the OPS schedule include hold'em, Omaha, Stud, HORSE, Razz, and even Badugi.
