ACR Poker and the other websites on the Winning Poker Network are running a unique Fantasy Poker League event for the upcoming 2025 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.
In this unusual and interesting promotion, ACR Poker is allowing users to draft their own team of poker professionals who may participate in the World Series of Poker. Therefore, you can participate by proxy, through your own team of poker pros, even if you can't make it to Las Vegas this year in person.
Once the teams are drafted and all of the buyins are completed, players will get to watch as the World Series of Poker plays out in hopes of acquiring enough points to land one of the top spots on the leaderboard to win cash prizes.
Registration for the Fantasy Poker League began on Monday, May 12 and only goes until Monday, May 26. The event itself will begin on May 27 and conclude on July 16.
This event is focused on the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Essentially, there are different buyin levels which allow you to draft your team of poker players from the available roster.
The three buyin levels available for the draft are $20, $100, and $500. Each buyin has its own leaderboard and prize pool. While it may seem that the biggest prizes will be awarded to those who elect to join the highest-buyin league, this actually depends upon how many people decide to play in each pool.
Each poker player you can draft has an associated salary, and every participant will be allotted $300 as a maximum budget to draft their team. As long as you do not exceed this $300 salary cap, you can select between four and eight poker players to be on your fantasy team.
Once you have assembled a team within the budgetary maximums, you'll be competing against the other teams with the same buyin amount (i.e., $20 participants will only compete against other $20 participants).
Points will be awarded for in the money finishes ranking within the top 100 finishers in any of the listed World Series of Poker events. The amount of points depends on the specific finishing position as outlined in the chart below:
In addition to the basic points formula discussed and included in the screenshot above, there are a couple of other factors that will impact awarded points.
Any event with a buyin above $5,000 will automatically award twice as many points, so the larger buyin events will carry significantly more weight as far as leaderboard points are concerned. The Main Event will automatically award triple points.
The other factor involved is the number of entrants in an event. If the event has fewer than 200 players, then points will be awarded as usual. For every additional 100 entrants above 200, one additional point will be awarded. As an example, an event with 500 players in it would award 3 additional points on top of the basic points awarded in the chart included above. However, these extra points based on field size are capped at a maximum of 20 additional points awarded.
The way that this event works is that every participant will have a set budget of $300, which can be used for drafting players. Every poker player has a different price or cost associated with them, so players will have to carefully balance their teams, just like a fantasy football team.
As for which players are available, there are 120 choices available. All of the included players are considered professional and have varying previous results playing in the World Series of Poker.
Some of the most popular players available to draft include Daniel "Kid Poker" Negreanu, Phil "The Poker Brat" Hellmuth, and Phil Ivey. Be careful, though, because the biggest names tend to carry significant price tags, like Negreanu who will set you back a full $105 of your $300 budget. Still, though, you can pick up some prominent players for a relative pittance, like Chris Moneymaker for $5 or Joe Cada for $6.
As we previously mentioned, there are three different buyin levels for this event. There is a $20 level, a $100 level, and a $500 level. The house fees associated with each league are $1, $5, and $25 respectively. The leaderboard for each buyin amount is separate.
The payouts are based on the total prize pool amount generated with the buyins to each specific buyin level as well as the number of entrants. Each leaderboard will award cash to the top few finishers.
For any leagues with 25 or fewer participants, only the top two will get paid with a distribution of 70% for first and 30% for second. Pools of between 26 and 40 participants will reward the top three with a 50/30/20 distribution.
The next change occurs once you hit 41 players, which sees a fourth payout spot added, and 61 entrants, which pays out the top five. This pattern continues until we reach 151 players at which point the top 10 on the leaderboard receive prizes.
In addition the three public leagues offered by ACR (at $20, $100, and $500 buyins), individual users can form their own private leagues. In private leagues, there are additional buyin levels available, from $10 + $0.50 to $10,000 + $500.
You can specify a different salary cap than the default too. If you choose $300, then the teams will each consist of between four and eight players, like usual. However, you can increase this to $400 for teams of between five and ten or $500 to let participants draft teams of between six and twelve.
Private leagues must have at least 10 participants to run, and they're capped and 200 participants. Only those registered to a private league are able to view them. A single user can create up to five private leagues.
If you are interested in taking part in the Fantasy Poker League, you'll have to sign up at ACR Poker or one of the other sites on the Winning Poker Network (WPN). Other WPN sites include Black Chip Poker, Ya Poker, and True Poker.
New players who signup at ACR Poker using our exclusive promo code PRB10FREE will receive $10 for free with no desposit required. Additionally, players will receive a 100% first deposit bonus worth up to $2,000.
