ACR Poker has named Alex Foxen, Chance Kornuth, and Chris Hunichen to its Pro Team

News Announced

On Monday, May 25, the official “ACR Poker” account posted on X welcoming the three newcomers to the team with a video reminiscent of the classic Budweiser “Whassup?” commercials:

On the same day, ACR Poker issued a press release making the news official. This document explained that the three new team members would play online poker tourneys as well as live tournaments, and they will also engage with players through “content initiatives.”

About the Players

Man Pointing

All three of the individuals signed by ACR Poker are well-known poker tournament specialists. They each have recorded eight-figure sums in live tournament poker, and every one of them has earned at least a single World Series of Poker bracelet. Find out more about them below

Alex Foxen

Alex Foxen is a 35-year-old from Huntington, New York. During college, he played as a tight end for the Division I Boston College Eagles. It was around this time that he participated in his first poker tournament, but he didn't start taking the game seriously until after he graduated.

Alex Foxen has won almost $60 million in live poker tournamentsAlex Foxen

Originally playing on PokerStars in 2014 under the account name “bigfox86,” he scored $1.76 million in tourney winnings, but in 2016, Alex elected to make the move over to the live poker tournament scene.

As he continued to crush the game, Alex moved up and started playing in more and more high-roller events. He has three World Series of Poker bracelets to his credit:

  • 2022 Event #50, $250,000 Super High Roller, good for a $4.5+ million payday
  • 2024 WSOP Online Event #17 – PLO $200K GTD Mystery Bounty, $20,064
  • 2024 WSOP Paradise Event #7 – Triton Main Event, $3.8+ million

In total, Alex Foxen has earned an amazing $56 million from live poker tournaments, good for 10th place on the all-time list. These days, he's also a coach for Chip Leader Coaching. Alex's screenname at ACR is “Outfoxenyou.”

Chance Kornuth

Chance Kornuth was born in Denver in 1986 and was raised in the same area. He was introduced to the game of poker by his brother while they were in high school. By the time Chance began attending University of Colorado Boulder, his skills were such that a professor recommended that he leave school and pursue a poker career. This is just what Kornuth did.

This decision soon paid off as Chance landed his first WSOP bracelet a couple years later in 2010. It was in Event #50, a $5,000 PLO tournament in which Chance won $508,090. He has since gone on to win three more gold bracelets. His largest score to date, however, was for a second-place finish rather than a win. This he achieved at the 2024 WSOP in a $50,000-buyin High Roller tourney for which he received $1,351,000.

In total, Chance Kornuth's live tournament winnings exceed $20 million. Several years ago, he founded Chip Leader Coaching, which claims to be the “first live tournament coaching for profit program.” You can look for Chance Kornuth playing at the tables on ACR under the screenname “Lawyerdad68.”

Chris Hunichen

Chris Hunichen, born in 1984, is a North Carolinian who made a name for himself as an online tournament crusher before booking significant live poker wins too. First picking up the game in college, he considered himself an amateur until a string of growing successes led him to transition to professional status.

Chris Hunichen is widely known to the poker community as “Big Huni”Chris Hunichen

Playing at PokerStars, Full Tilt, WSOP Online, and GGPoker throughout the years, usually under the “Big Huni” moniker, Chris has amassed a total of almost $13 million in wins from poker tournaments on the internet. Added to that, he can boast live poker MTT winnings of nearly $18.6 million.

On June 17, 2024, Hunichen achieved a longtime goal by securing a World Series of Poker bracelet. This was in Event #47: $100,000 High Roller NLHE. Chris made $2.84 million, his largest live poker score ever. Astonishingly, Chris entered WSOP event #55, $250,000 Super High Roller NLHE, just a few days later in which he placed third for the second-largest payday of his career: $2.40 million.

Chris Hunichen can be found online at ACR with the nickname “2rich2care.”

More About Team ACR Poker

Blue Information Button

ACR Poker actually has several groups of sponsored players of which the ACR Poker Team recently joined by Foxen, Kornuth, and Hunichen is just one. Other prominent members of Team ACR Poker include Chris Moneymaker, Chris Moorman, Jeff Boski, and Ana Marquez.

Then there's ACR Team Online, which consists mostly of individuals who have achieved prominence in online poker as opposed to live poker, ACR Ambassadors, who represent the site in media outlets, and ACR Stormers, which is a team of players who stream their ACR sessions on Twitch.tv.

ACR Poker or Americas Cardroom?

Green Question Mark

Curiously, the statement announcing the news identified the site that the three poker professionals signed with as “Americas Cardroom.” This was the old name of ACR Poker before it rebranded; however, it has been nearly three years since the site was formally known by this name.

Actually, the old domain americascardroom.eu is still running, and it's frequently updated notwithstanding the fact that the main domain of the site is now acrpoker.eu.

One possible explanation for this is that the string “Americas Cardroom” still has considerable search traffic. By including this name within the press release and maintaining a website with this domain, ACR Poker is ensuring that it is capturing as much search traffic as possible.
