April is here and Carbon Poker, flagship site of the Merge Network has a host of promotions for cash and tournaments players. These promotions will be somewhat familiar to players, but with a little added money that reflects some consolidation that the site was been working on.
Carbon Poker is getting ready to have a big April with some great promotions for cash players, as well as tournament players. The promotions are not the only stories though as FLHE is also getting a makeover that will hopefully improve the liquidity of that particular ecosystem. Carbon Poker will still have their normal promotions such as 2-a-days, the Bad Beat Jackpot and refer-a-friend, but they will also have the following lucrative promotions.
Carbon Poker is bringing back the very popular Grand Prix hand races from last month, but this time with a little bit more money up for grabs at $40,000. For those that are new to the idea, the Grand Prix hand races are a set of 7 daily hand races that award the top 3 players who grind through the most hands. Players will be able to play NLHE, FLHE or PLO meaning that playing any of your favorite games will help you place higher on the leaderboard. The race runs from 12:00 AM serve time to 11:59 PM server time every day from April 1st through the 28th.
Here is the breakdown of prize information by stake:
While this might not be a promotion, strictly speaking, it might feel like that to FLHE players who have been hoping for a change to get games going. In hope of achieving such Carbon Poker has completely redone the FLHE lobby in a way that hasn’t been seen before on a site. Gone are the very low stakes, the very high stakes and the incremental stake increases previously seen. Now, each limit is essentially double the previous limit (with some small exceptions) might that make climbing the ranks a bit harder, but they are now better defined which will hopefully draw some lines between the stakes for players and consolidate games more than it currently done.
This isn’t the only change though for FLHE as the blind structure has also been significantly changed. Now most tables will feature a 0.75 small blind to 1 big blind ratio, or 0.8 sb to 1 bb ratio. The hope is that this will spur more action for players and increase the enjoyment for recreational players. PokerStars and most live casinos have similar blind structures at certain stakes (such as $5/$10,) so this isn’t completely unheard of, but doing it on this scale is pretty different.
The new, and hopefully improved, lobby looks like this now:
Tournament players are always looking for big guarantees and rich tournaments. Carbon Poker is going to provide that with their latest Big Money Sunday! On April 12th Carbon Poker is going to be hosting 6 tournaments that combined will have $500,000 up for grabs. The Main Event of the day is going to be a $250,000 Super Deep event with a buy-in of $215 starting at 15:00 ET. The rest of the tournaments are no slouch either with everything except the $11 event having a $50,000 or greater prize pool. The $11 event will feature a $30,000 prize pool, by far the largest of events with similar buy-ins.
All of these events are going to be reentry with long late registration periods. As always there is a very healthy satellite schedule that players can take advantage of. This will be a great warmup for players in preparation for the Carbon Online Poker Series, or CarbonOPS, that is coming in May (which we will preview later in the month.) Here is a look at the specifics of the Big Money Sunday schedule so you can plan your next big payday!
Carbon Poker might not have as many promotions as other sites, but they are pretty good value for all types of players, whether you are a cash player or tournament grinder. The consolidation of FLHE stakes should also help breathe some more life into the games and allow for more tables to run. What promotions or changes do you like the most?
