CoinPoker Logo

Having just concluded a Festive Period, CoinPoker is keeping the excitement going with a Winter KO Series running from February 16 to 25. There's more than ₮100,000 guaranteed over 30 separate events.

The CoinPoker Winter KO runs in February 2024 and has ₮100,000+ guaranteed

CoinPoker's Tether Focus

Money Bag

You may notice guaranteed amounts and tourney buyins at CoinPoker listed alternately in “$” or “₮.” This is because all gaming at CoinPoker is denominated in the crypto-currency Tether (USDC), which is represented by the symbol “₮.” Unlike most digital coins, which float in value with respect to the dollar, the value of each Tether token is tied in a 1:1 relationship to the U.S. dollar. Therefore, whether the dollar or Tether symbol is used, the amount represented is the same.

Winter KO Series Info

Blue Info Button

As its name implies, the Winter KO Series consists entirely of knockout – or bounty – tournaments. Nevertheless, there is some difference in the way these bounty events work. Standard KOs divide the buyin up evenly between the prize pool and a bounty pool. Whenever a player is eliminated from the tourney, a payment equal to the amount contributed by that player to the bounty pool is paid to the one who knocked that individual out.

Sometimes, there's a different split between the prize pool and bounty pool other than 50/50. Finally, in Progressive Knock Outs, whenever a competitor eliminates an opponent, they only get half of the bounty prize. The other half is transferred from the defeated contender on to the head of the all-in victor. This means that in PKO tournaments, the bounties on the remaining players tend to get higher and higher the longer the MTT has been running.

The series runs over the course of 10 days with three tournaments per day for a total of 30. They all run in the evening time GMT with none of them beginning earlier than 5 p.m. or later than 8 p.m. In Eastern Time, this translates to between noon and 3 p.m. The buyins start out relatively small at ₮20, but they go as high as ₮200.

All 30 tournaments feature No Limit Texas Hold'em gameplay. They all permit rebuys up to a certain point in the event although there are no add-ons.

Keep an Eye Out for CP-Bounty

In every event, there will be an entrant named “CP-Bounty.” This is a player backed by the house, and you'll receive a special prize if you manage to knock “CP-Bounty” out of any tourney. This will take the form of a tournament ticket. The value of the ticket varies for each series event but is within the range of 1.33x to 5x the buyin.

Notable Events

With only 30 tournaments on the roster, it's feasible to join all of them. Nevertheless, if you only have time to play a few of them, we've identified several tournaments that look especially interesting. You may want to pay attention to the following events:

Event #4; Saturday, Feb. 17, 5:00 p.m. GMT; ₮20 Big Bounty (80/20) ₮1,000 GTD
This tournament sees 80% of the buyins directed toward the bounty pool, so the focus here is definitely on tangling with your opponents rather than laddering up the payout structure. With a buyin of just ₮20 and a ₮50 ticket for eliminating “CP-Bounty,” there's a lot up for grabs for but a small investment required.

Event #24; Friday, Feb. 23, 8:00 p.m. GMT; ₮100 4-Max Hyper PKO ₮2,500 GTD
Test your short-handed skills in this four-max event. This event proceeds at hyper speed, so there's no time to wait around for a monster; you'll have to mix it up using position and your chip stack to dominate. Knock “CP-Bounty” out for a ₮150 ticket

Event #27; Saturday, Feb. 24, 7:00 p.m. GMT; ₮200 Saturday Special PKO ₮10,000 GTD
This event's ₮10,000 guaranteed prize pool is the second-highest on the schedule. If the ₮200 buyin is too much for you, then there's a similar MTT starting at the same time with half the buyin but also half the guarantee. Whoever eliminates “CP-Bounty” gets a ₮300 ticket (₮150 in the half-sized tourney).

Event #30; Sunday, Feb. 25, 7:00 p.m. GMT; ₮200 Sunday Special PKO ₮40,000 GTD
The final event of the series, number 30, has the largest guarantee at $40,000. The cost of entry is ₮200, so it's not for the faint of heart. Yet, the high price means you probably won't have to wade through tons of opponents in order to prevail. Boot “CP-Bounty” from the event to get a ₮300 tournament ticket.
