Winning Poker Network Hosts another Successful Cage Event

“The Cage” which is Winning Poker Network’s attempt to bring High Stakes games back to the United States had its latest iteration tonight and it continues to grow in a steady and healthy fashion.  This time 10 players ponied up the $5,100 and 26 satellited into the event, resulting in a total prize pool of $180,000 USD.  Four hours of brawling later, the dust cleared, and  21 players walked away with prize money with “RescueGeniefromReno” taking home the largest prize of $24,495!

FabPoker CEO just missed making it a wonderful day for himself by dazzling him competition and leaving with $20,490 and being only 1 of 2 players to break that barrier.  Dusty “Leatherass9” Schmidt who is a sponsored pro for the Winning Poker Network managed to take home $3,379 finishing in 17th place.  That is the really unique part of the entire tournament as nothing says you will leave with more than you start, as 7 of the 21 players who made it out of “The Cage” alive found out.

“The Cage” combines both cash games and tournaments to create an experience that satisfies both sets of players.  Once the tournament starts it does not end until 4 hours has come of the clock.  While the blinds stay relatively low (maxing out at 50/100 with 5,000 starting stacks) there is no escape for players no matter how hard there table is.  At the end of the 4 hours players receive the amount of chips they have in front of them in cash at a 1:1 ratio.  “The Cage” is available to players on all skins of Winning Poker Network including: Ya Poker, True Poker, PokerHost, Black Chip Poker and the flagship site for Winning Poker Network America’s Cardroom.

Winning Poker Network CEO Announces Plans

One of the most interesting parts of “The Cage” for those not competing is that the Winning Poker Network CEO does a companion live stream and answers questions that people have posed to him in the chat or through different means of communication.  Your dedicated writers here at ProfessionalRakeback.com suffered through the less than stellar music choices by the CEO and were able to glean a few important announcements for players of the network.

The first major announcement deals with future big tournaments on the site.  “The Cage” will now be run only before major tournaments on the network.  The “Mini Cage” will still run every week though, so players will still have a $500 option readily available to them.  This means that “The Cage” will likely become a quarterly event from this point forward.  This announcement was coupled with the announcement that if the upcoming Winning Millions goes well then they will be running another Winning Millions tournament before April 15th.

The future tournament announcements don’t stop there though as the CEO of Winning Poker Network also announced the site will be offering at least 50 seats to the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event this year.  This number includes satellites that will begin sometime after the Winning Millions ends on February 22nd, as well as allowing players to “Spin and Get IN” to the tournament through there slot inspired satellite system.

The announcements were not all focused on tournament players though as he also said that a “Micro Beast” will be coming to the cash tables in February, most likely.  This promotion will focus on micro limit games only and will not be a progressive jackpot like is seen with “The Beast,” but will instead have a flat payout structure.  While the details are still not completely flushed out, players can gather the main idea of the promotion based on what is already offered by the network.

The Twitch.tv stream which lasted just over three hours touched on a lot of other topics and showed a more human side to a world that is mostly shrouded in secrecy to players.  DDoS attacks, reasons for long late registration and other decisions the company makes where all discussed and defended during the stream.  Further details on bitcoin withdraws were also discussed, but little new information was really passed along with regard to those.  Players can listen to the stream which should be available for a few more days.

Conclusion

Winning Poker Network continues to dazzle American players by offering events to them that they can’t get anywhere else.  “The Cage” was successful in the number of players who were playing, but also the traffic it generated in the cash games as over 6 games of $10/$20+ action was going on at the same time according the Winning Poker Network CEO.  Next on the horizon for the network is the Online Super Series (OSS) and the Winning Millions which your friends here at ProfessaionalRakeback.com will preview at the beginning of February!  Do you like the CEO does the live streams?  DO they provide good information for you?  Tell us on Twitter or Facebook as we want to know what you think!
