Winning Millions Big Success!

Winning Million Logo  Winning Poker Network decided to try to climb the mountain of largest poker tournament available to US players once again, and this time they succeeded.  With late registration having just closed they managed to attract 1,799 entries (including reentries) for a natural prize pool of $899,500, but that was bumped to $1,000,000 to meet the promised guarantee.

Winning Poker Network Succeeds in Second Attempt at Winning Millions!

Many players wondered if Winning Poker Network, which is made up of America’s Cardroom, Black Chip Poker, PokerHost, True Poker and Ya Poker, was going to be able to pull off a successful attempt to host a $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool tournament.  Instead of running away and aiming a bit lower than their last failed attempt in December, they doubled down on their promise of the largest US-facing tournament since Black Friday and pulled through this time even despite missing their target by $30,000 once fees are taken into account.

Success can be measured a lot of different ways and despite this iteration of the Winning Millions not reaching the guarantee, it’s likely going to be considered a success, because it did manage to go off with minimal complaints.  Some players complained about lag, but those issues seemed to be fairly isolated, and the IT department from Winning Poker Network said that most of the problems being seen are from US-based players.  The tournament though was never near as bad as the last attempt as it was not paused at any point during late registration.

The tournament was also a success because they did not have to shut any other tournaments down to make sure that there was enough bandwidth to accommodate everything else on the network.  That meant that Winning Poker Network was able to successful run a full complement of their satellites to the World Series of Poker Main Event and The Cage.  Also, they were able to run the last day of their Online Super Series (OSS) without any hiccups or cancelled tournaments, even if players did miss some great value with the $300,000 guaranteed second chance overlaying by nearly $60,000.  This was in stark contrast to December when everything else was shut down to attempt to complete the Winning Million.

The tournament itself saw 261 players get paid.  The minimum cash was $800 and the top 12 places walked away with $10,000.  “ForTheNguyen” ended up taking the tournament down for $200,000 after they defeated “EduardoGarla” ($111,000) heads up.  We will attempt to get into contact with “ForTheNguyen” and give you an interview with the winner of this record breaking tournament. The whole tournament took just over 12 hours to complete.  The rest of the final table results were as follows: “GoMegatrong” ($73,800), “Chizzle” ($58,800), “HurziPurzi888” ($44,800), Michael Bolton ($31,800), “GoatBoat” ($22,800), (Sngwonder” ($17,500) and “Montheflo” ($13,200).  “Sngwonder” remarkably also finished 3rd in the $300,000 Second Chance for just under $25,000.

The next Winning Millions is scheduled to take place on April 12th, and then again in July or August the CEO announced in a live stream just after late registration was completed.  He also said that he would be interested in making this tournament happen every week during the month of October.  That proposition is still in the early stages of being planned though, and if it comes to fruition is still unknown.  Whether the October tournaments end up happening or not, it's clear the CEO is interested in growing the tournament and growing the network in a big way. ProfessionalRakeback.com will keep you update as announcements happen.

The tournament caps off a great few months for Winning Poker Network which has seen its average players raise from just over 200 to 525 per week according to GameIntel.com.  With the hosting of this mammoth tournament with only isolated incidents, being one of the few networks with the acceptance of bitcoin for US-based players (especially now that SealsWithClubs has been shuttered) and great promotions still running; the growth should continue and players should be able to find great games to partake in.  If you would like to get involved with the action you have read about today read our review of Winning Poker Network!  Did you play in the Winning Millions?  What was your experience with the tournament and the network?  Let us know on Twitter and Facebook!
