The Winning Poker Network, via their leading online poker room partner America's Cardroom, and in conjunction with Black Chip Poker, True Poker, and YaPoker has announced a historic $1,000,000 guaranteed tournament that will take place on December 14th, 2014. This event will be the biggest single tournament prize pool offered to US online poker players in over three years.

The magic $1 million mark has not been offered to US players since Black Friday back in April of 2011. America's Cardroom spokesman Michael Harris, via email, reiterated this by saying that "(a prize pool of) seven figures has been completely foreign to US players for well over three years now."

"We're excited to raise the bar and set a new standard for poker in America with a $1 million tournament prize pool that's reminiscent of the glory days."

The $1 million guaranteed tournament will take place on Sunday, December 14th at 3pm EST. The buy-in for the event will be $500+$40, and according to Dan Kent, the Winning Poker Network tournament director, the event will feature 10,000 starting chips, five hours of late registration, and 15 minute blinds with an extended level structure you can see here. The top prize is guaranteed to be at least $200,000, and each of the top nine finishers in this event will earn one free bank wire to help facilitate faster and more fluid payouts.

The satellite schedule will be "aggressive", according to Mr. Kent. Starting this Wednesday, there will be no less than eight qualifiers running daily, with an additional two sit-n-go's running 24 hours a day. Buy-ins for these qualifiers range from no cost, "step" freerolls to nightly $109 satellites with at least two seats to the $1 million event guaranteed.

The full satellite/qualifying schedule, with starting times, buy-in information, and prizes (via ACR website) are described below. These events will be available via your America's Cardroom poker client beginning this Wednesday, and will run daily leading up the $1,000,000 GTD tournament on December 14th.

The Winning Poker Network has been ratcheting up promotions throughout the summer. Last week, WPN added $90,000 to their popular "Beast" cash game and "Sit & Crush" promotions, and in May, added a $20,000 guaranteed High Roller event to their Sunday tournament schedule.

Speaking of WPN's tournament schedule, ProfRB.com tracks all WPN multi-table tournaments with guarantees of $2,000 and higher in our "Weekly WPN Overlay Reports." Though overlays have been more frequent during the traditional slow season of the summer, WPN has successfully maintained one of the better MTT offerings for US players. This past June also saw the return of the popular "High Five" tournament series, which brought over 7,900 players to the tables and saw $420,000 worth of prize pools awarded. We expect their growth to continue through July and August, and with this $1 million event on the periphery, traffic should steadily continue to rise leading up to the marquee event in December.

ProfRB.com highly recommends the leading WPN online poker room America's Cardroom, as well as partner rooms Black Chip Poker, True Poker, and Ya Poker (poker en español) - WPN Poker Room Reviews. These poker sites offer players opportunities that one can't find anywhere else, such as the choice to earn VIP rewards under the Elite Benefits promotion (which is a clone of the PokerStars VIP program) or receive a 27% flat rakeback deal where one's cashback is available on demand. Also the ability to use the peer-to-peer (P2P) transfer option exists on this poker network. With payouts well under stated timeframes (WPN is now ranked #2 among US-friendly poker rooms in our monthly report on cashouts) and steady traffic in cash games and multi-table tournaments, the Winning Poker Network is well suited for US players of any skill level.  Convinced already and want to start hunting a satellite to the $1,000,000 tournament?

We will have more information regarding this historic event in the days and weeks to come. Stay tuned to ProfRB.com for the latest, and follow us on Twitter (@ProfRBcom) for up to the minute updates.
