MICRO Tournament Series Underway at Chico Network: $120K Gtd

CPN Logo

From June 17 through the end of the month, the Chico Poker Network (Sportsbetting.ag, TigerGaming, and BetOnline) is playing host to the MICRO Tournament Series. The point of this series of tournaments, as the name implies, is to cater to micro-stakes players and give them a chance to play in tournaments with sizeable guaranteed prize pools. In all, there are 100 tournaments in the series with total guarantees of $120,000.

Every day there will be a mix of tournaments with buy-ins starting at less than $1. In fact, players will only see buy-ins of more than $5.50 during the June 22 NLHE 6-max $10,000 guaranteed event (buy-in of $11, event #32) and during the June 30 NLHE 9-max $20,000 guaranteed event (buy-in of $22, event #93). With that being said, those two buy-ins are still quite low considering how much money stands to be won.

Tournament Formats Offered

Clipboard

During the MICRO Tournament Series, there is just about every type of tournament format imaginable. Re-entry tournaments are the most commonly found and there will regularly be one to three of them every day through the duration of the series. Other tournament formats on offer include multi-entry, progressive knockout, rebuy/add-on, shootout, deep stack, Boost, freezeout, ante up, and a few others.

Most events are of the 6- and 9-max variety, but there are also a few 3-max, 4-max, and 8-max events on offer. There are three different speeds at which tournaments are played. Regular speed of play is found most often, but there is also plenty of turbo and hyper action to be had too.

Types of Poker Offered

Cards and Chips

Far and away, the most common type of poker offered during the MICRO Tournament Series is No Limit Hold’em. In fact, many days feature four separate NLHE events. In total, more than 70% of the tournaments are No Limit Hold’em. Other poker types you will find include Pot Limit Omaha, Texas 6+, Fixed Limit Hold’em, and No Limit Omaha.

During the week (Monday through Friday), there will be five tournaments per day, all of which will happen in the evening hours (Eastern Time). On the weekends, 10 events will be held on Saturdays and 15 on Sundays. They will begin at noon on Saturdays and at 9 AM (ET) on Sundays, and they'll roll on into the nighttime.

As we mentioned above, the two weekends of the MICRO Tournament Series will feature tournaments with guaranteed prize pools of $10,000 and $20,000 respectively. Most of the other prize pools fall between $100 and $1,000; however, there are a few events with guaranteed money that ranges from $1,000 - $5,000.

Tournaments Worth Mentioning

Magnifying Glass

Frankly speaking, all 100 events in the MICRO Tournament Series are worth mentioning because of their small buy-ins and large prize pools. With that said, a few of the MTTs stick out from the rest of the crowd.

On June 20 at 10PM (ET), there is what will surely be a fast-paced tournament in the form of the $2.20 buy-in Time-Limited 4-max NLHE event (#20 on the schedule). The prize pool may be guaranteed at only $500, but the event is set to conclude after it has been running for a certain amount of time, so the final few hands are likely to see plenty of all-ins as individuals attempt to climb into the money at the last minute.

A tournament format that you will see just once through the course of the series is on June 22 at 2PM (ET) in tournament #28. The $3.30 buy-in Boost PKO NLHE 3-max boasts a guaranteed prize pool of $750 and is undoubtedly the most unique event of all 100. The combination of fast-fold Boost Poker, progressive knockouts, and three-handed play should make for quickly rising bounty payouts, adding an element of strategy and excitement to the competition.
