Carbon Poker Update Accentuates “Instant Play” Service

Carbon Poker is trying as hard as it can to let users play no matter the situation they find themselves in or the operating system they use.  With the most recent software update by Carbon Poker, flagship skin of the Merge Gaming Network, players now have an option for improved client based system (native to Windows and Mac friendly), mobile optimized alternative (for all Android and iphone, ipad iOS systems) or anInstant Play version that allows users to partake without downloading any external software onto their computer.  These options provide Carbon Poker with a distinct edge in the US gaming market, as no other site offers all of these options.

The most interesting and under the radar offer is the “Instant Play” option.  This allows users to register for any cash game, SNG or regularly scheduled online poker tournament without downloading anything on to your desktop or laptop computer.  It’s a great option for those visiting someone, wanting to grind or have a bit of fun while at work or potentially at an internet cafe that won’t let you download things onto their computers.  Also, if you register for something through the normal client and it starts while you are logged on to the “Instant Play” service that tournament or SNG will begin as scheduled with no extra effort on your part.  This means that taking advantage of those great value added freerolls while at work becomes a real possibility.

Testing

We here at Professionalrakeback.com tried out the “Instant Play” service offered by Carbon Poker and felt it was pretty good, especially considering other site’s web-based services, such as Seals with Clubs or Intertops.  It felt a lot like the normal client, but did lack some of the fit and finish of the normal client that is nearly as good as Pokerstars or Full Tilt.  A really nice feature included in the “Instant Play” program is the Quick Seat feature that lets you play almost immediately.  This feature adds a good option for those looking to play Carbon Poker for only a few minutes between doing other things, or during break at work.   It’s as simple as typing in the web address, logging into your account and clicking quick seat.  Before you know it, you are sitting in a game and playing.

Cons

The FAQs on the webpage reveal a mixed bag of answers to some burning questions users are bound to have about this offering.   The bad is mostly centered around not being able to play more than 1 table at a time via Instant Play and not being able to download and save your hand histories.  Those that play the Carbon mobile client regularly will be used to this though and it will not really change anything for them.  In reality, the way most will be using the “instant Play” option anyway will help ease the annoyance from not having these options available.  Taking notes and keeping good records can help you not miss much overall further negating the negative..

Pros - Seriously, I Can Multi-Table?!

Let us be frank.  The biggest advantage here is that you can now play multiple tables... on your phone!  Or on your tablet! Who ever heard of multi-tabling on a mobile device?  Carbon Poker dreampt it up and made it real!  For those of you who play live poker, we want you to imagine, playing three tables online, and still being able to take all the money of that fat cat fish chewing the cigar to your right!  For the record, in theory, you can play as many tables on the mobile client as you can on a PC or Mac.  In practice, it may be difficult to 18 table on your phone, but the choice, and limitations, are yours to figure out - the mobile poke app will not limit you unnecessarily.

The good side of the coin in terms of the FAQ is that you do have sound, you can deposit or get your Carbon Poker cash outs easily from the “Instant Play” menus and you can bet on Carbon sports or play Carbon casino games.  The sound positive may sound a bit odd (no pun intended), but users of the mobile version will realize this is an added feature.  The mobile version only offers sound on a beta version basis and it has problems from time to time.  “Instant Play” offers you sound all the time, in a non-beta version.  The ability to deposit and play casino games will be liked by some, but don’t take anything away from those who do not chose to partake. Professional Rakeback has it on good authority that hand history saving and support will be coming to both "Instant Play" as well as the mobile poker client soon.

Another distinct advantage of the new "Instant Play" feature is that it opens up Carbon Poker's games to virtually all GUI operating systems and web browsers. The web browser technology behind IP makes way for Linux poker players to enjoy a game, as well as those of you who use BSD. It means that your Blackberry can access the games, your Android device, your iPhone, hell you could even fire up a poker game on your Kindle if you felt like it!
