The Winning Poker Network, including America’s Cardroom and Black Chip Poker, is back at it again with more huge guaranteed prize money. The Online Super Series (OSS) returns, and this time it features more than $20 million in guaranteed prizes spread over almost 400 series events. It runs from Monday, May 11 through Monday, May 25.

The OSS series commences at the Winning Poker Network May 11 with $20 million+ in guaranteed prizes

OSS Info

Blue Info BTN

Despite the official OSS schedule showing numbered events up to only #173, the series actually features close to 400 action-packed tournaments. The reason behind this seeming discrepancy lies in the separation of some of the events into high, medium, and low versions. A few even have a fourth, micro edition.

For instance, OSS #137H ($40,000 GTD) costs $109 to enter while OSS #137M ($25,000 GTD) and OSSXL #137L ($7,500 GTD), which occur on the same day and begin at the same time, are priced at $33 and $11 respectively. Meanwhile, #137Micro ($1,500 GTD) costs just $3.30 to enter.

Therefore, there are far more series events than you might think by looking at the numbers attached to these tournaments.

Buyins start at a low roller-friendly $0.55. More expensive events beckon for those who want a bigger thrill up to $2,650. Thus, the OSS XL caters to those of all bankroll levels.

A Diverse Schedule and Wide Range of Games

Clipboard

In addition to having a broad menu of buyin levels to choose from, the OSS offers several varieties of poker. Though most of the tourneys are for the ever-present NL Hold'em, there are a handful of PLO, PLO8, and 5 Card PLO8 contests too. However, limit games, like Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo and Limit Hold’em, are absent.

Occasional turbo and 6-max events provide a break from the routine as do progressive knockouts. Mystery bounties and hypers are a couple of the other wrinkles you'll see in the series.

With the number of tournaments on the OSS roster, no single individual can enter them all. Therefore, you will have to look carefully in the poker lobby and select those that interest you the most. Nevertheless, there are a few major events that you may wish to keep your eye on.

Main Events

This OSS has four separate main events, which are a $2,650 buyin with $1,500,000 GTD (OSSXL #1), a $1,050 buyin also with $1,500,000 guaranteed (OSSXL #2), a $215 buyin with $1,000,000 guaranteed (OSS #3), and a $66 buyin with $250,000 guaranteed (OSS #4).

The three larger Main Events follow the same schedule. They both have a starting day on Sunday, May 17 at 11:05 a.m. ET and a second starting day at the same time on Sunday, May 24. Then the survivors from these days of play gather at 1:30 p.m. ET on Monday, May 25 to play Day 2. The $66 Main meanwhile runs at 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, May 24.

Multi-Flight Events

There are four major multi-flight events in this installment of the OSS. Three of them are Mystery Bounties. This means that there are numerous Day 1 flights, which are combined to play to a conclusion on Day 2. Also on Day 2, randomized bounties are awarded for eliminating opponents.

This is the schedule for the Mystery Bounty Multi-Flights:

  • OSS #6, $109 Buyin, $750,000 Guaranteed, Day 1s from April 26 – May 25, Day 2 May 25 @ 3:05 p.m. ET
  • OSS #7, $33 Buyin, $150,000 Guaranteed, Day 1s from April 26 – May 24, Day 2 May 24 @ 4:05 p.m. ET
  • OSS #8, $5.50 Buyin, $75,000 Guaranteed, Day 1s from April 26 – May 24, Day 2 May 24 @ 2:05 p.m. ET

One other major multi-flight tourney is set to run during the OSS but it uses a regular prize pool not Mystery Bounty format. With a $630 buyin and $1 million guarantee, OSS #5 will probably draw in a more serious crowd. Regular flights will occur from May 11 – 25, then Day 2 will begin at 2:05 p.m. ET on Monday, May 25.

Leaderboard Prizes Await

Winners' Podium

As it sometimes does, the Winning Poker Network is providing a leaderboard for the OSS series with $30,500 in added prizes. Actually, there are two separate leaderboards: one for buyins of $33 and above and another for buyins lower than $33.

The High leaderboard will award prizes as follows:

    • 1st: $10,000
    • 2nd: $5,000
    • 3rd: $3,000
    • 4th: $2,000
    • 5th: $1,500

and the Low leaderboard is good for:,

      • 1st: $4,000
      • 2nd: $2,000
      • 3rd: $1,500
      • 4th: $1,000
      • 5th: $500

In order to accrue any points for a given tournament, you must finish in the money. The amount of points awarded is equal to the square root of the prize pool over the square root of your finishing position.

Satellites Beckon

Satellites Structure

Although many of the MTTs on the OSS lineup are already geared toward those on smaller bankrolls, there's another way to participate in some of the events even if funds are low. A broad array of satellites exists that let you attempt to win your seat for less than the sticker price. These qualifying tournaments are priced at just a few bucks, and actually, there are even freeroll satellites that cost nothing to enter.
