Aced Poker Closing

Aced Poker has dealt its last hand

Aced Poker Room Going Out of Business

Aced Poker, a Merge Gaming Network online poker room, has announced that they are shutting their doors on July 1st and will merge with Carbon Poker. This site has been in constant operation since opening its doors in 2007. Alas, the streak has come to an end.

Aced was the sister skin to Carbon Poker. By sister site, that means that Aced and Carbon were sharing promotions, cashiers, and support staff. Aced Poker was acquired by Carbon in 2010 when the original owners began having financial, and rumored, legal troubles. Carbon Poker stepped in and purchased the assets and made sure all player balances were made whole while integrating Aced into their line up.

All Aced Poker accounts will be moved to CarbonPoker, and those with current Carbon and Aced accounts will be merged on Carbon Poker. This includes player balances, VIP points, and tournament tickets earned. Aced players will not have to download the Carbon Poker software - opening the Aced program after July 1st will result in automatic download and installation of the Carbon client software.

This move falls in line with Merge's recent moves this past year. Merge reintegrated all Jazette partnered poker rooms in April, bringing all skins under one operational umbrella. Eliminating a redundant operation in Aced will further reduce unneeded overhead and operational costs, as Merge now consists of a handful of partners. There had been upwards of 50 to 60 partnered rooms over the course of Merge's existence. This reduced amount of partners should result in easier and more efficient promotional coordination, security monitoring, as well as relieving some of the ongoing "affiliate rakeback wars" that have been leading to player poaching and under the table deals.

As reported first by ProfRB.com, Carbon Poker will begin a new Player Points program on July 15th. Players will have until this date to use VIP Points for multi-tournament table entry, as they will not be converted into Player Points.
