Professional Rakeback Tigergaming Review

TigerGaming is a long-lived online poker site, having been in operation continuously since 1999. It has always been a smaller arena traffic-wise and was heavily hit by the UIGEA in 2007, which forced it to shut its doors to new American players. In recent years, however, its Chico Poker Network partners BetOnline and have made a strong push in the U.S. market. This has resulted in steady growth for the Chico Poker Network as a whole and TigerGaming too even though it doesn’t itself accept gamblers from the United States. While it’s still not among the top 10 largest poker rooms on the net, it is in the top 15, it does draw in a respectable amount of player volume, and there’s heavy crossover traffic from the sports and casino sides of its business, leading to some pretty soft poker tables overall. When we consider this fact in combination with the juicy 100% up to $1,000 sign up bonus and other regular promotions, we begin to see why Tiger Gaming Poker deserves to be on the radar of every poker connoisseur whether amateur or professional.

How the Welcome Bonus Works

The initial deposit bonus at TigerGaming will be applied to your account after you make your first deposit of between $50 and $1,000. You do have to request it manually, though, by sending an email to support[at] Place the TigerGaming bonus code NEWTG in the subject line of your email, and include your username in the body. Within 48 hours of sending your message to support, the sum you deposited into your account will be matched 100%, dollar for dollar, with bonus funds. For the next 30 days, you’ll receive $10 of your bonus whenever you collect 5,000 comp points.

You’ll get 1 comp point for every cent you contribute to the rake and 100 points for each $1 you pay in tourney fees. It’s important to note that you don’t receive any comp points for tournaments with house fees of less than $1, and any tournaments with fees that aren’t whole numbers of dollars will be rounded down to the nearest dollar when calculating comp point awards. You’ll need to rake $50 to get 5,000 comp points, which will release $10 of your bonus, for a rate of return of 20%.

First Depositor’s Freeroll

After you make a valid first deposit, you’ll get a ticket to the monthly First Depositor’s Freeroll. This free tourney is held on the second Sunday of each calendar month at 5 p.m. ET and hands out $10,000 in prizes to the lucky winners. You’ll receive your entry within 72 hours of the start of the month after you make your deposit.

Later on, when you’re looking to request a payout of your winnings, you’ll be able to use these same processors with the exception of credit cards. Tiger Gaming Poker caters to casual and low-stakes poker fans more than it does to high-rollers and professionals. Therefore, it restricts cashouts to a limit of $5,000 per week and $15,000 per 30 days although any deposits you made during this timeframe can be withdrawn on top of the $15K cap. However, $15,000 per month is much more than most players will ever have to worry about cashing out. Also, with the TigerGaming cash out guarantee, you can rest assured that your cash out will be promptly made, or else they guarantee to double the amount requested!

Cash Games

The most popular poker game in the world is No Limit Hold’em, so it only makes sense that there are more tables in this form of poker than any others. The blinds run from $0.05/$0.10 up through $10/$20 although games above $1/$2 are sparsely populated during non-peak hours. Luckily however, as this network has both US and ROW player bases, there is both a European and US poker traffic peak where a plethora of game availability can be found.

Pot Limit Omaha is spread from $0.05/$0.10 to $5/$10 in both hi-only and hi-low formats. There are usually a dozen or more games of Omaha running at any one time though multi-tablers may have to mix levels to get in the amount of play they seek. Limit Hold’em and Limit Omaha hi-lo can also be found in the ring game section of the poker lobby, but games hardly ever run.

Regardless of whether you play NLHE, PLO, or some other format, you can only sit at eight or fewer ring game tables simultaneously. This is probably a measure to ensure that the action moves swiftly without having to wait for mass multi-tablers to run down their time banks before making their decisions.

The exciting fast-fold Boost poker format was implemented across the Chico Poker Network at the beginning of 2018. The Boost tables are virtually identical to regular cash games, but the way the action proceeds is different. Whenever you fold your hand, you move without delay to another table to receive a new set of hole cards. In this manner, downtime is kept to a minimum because you never have to sit around waiting for others to complete hands that you're not involved in.

Sit-and-gos run the gamut from $1.50 contests all the way up to $215. Perhaps surprisingly for a site of modest size, even the highest SNGs on offer sometimes run. The SNGs contain two, six, nine, or ten players each, and you’ll see games running with all these table sizes. PLO and PLO Hi-Lo are offered in sit-no-go form too.

A new type of sit & go, called Windfall, hit the CPN in mid-December 2017. It incorporates randomized elements to deliver a gameplay experience that has much in common with traditional poker but also resembles a lottery in certain respects. A Windfall game starts whenever three people sign up, and the prize pool varies between two times and 2,000 times the amount paid to enter.

TigerGaming hosts lots of multi-table tournaments with low buyins of $1 or less, but at the other end of the scale, there are only a few events with sizeable entrance costs. The regular Sunday Major is not run like it is at most competitors’ sites. The first 3 (sometimes 4) Sunday’s each month, the Sunday Major hosts a $75,000 guarantee with a $100 + $9 buy-in. Then, on the last Sunday of the month, instead of the standard fare, there’s a jumbo-sized version that guarantees a prize pool of $100,000.

Something to be aware of is that the great majority of tourneys here are R&A events, so the actual price you’ll end up paying could be much greater than what’s stated in the lobby. Look for MTTs with “Freezeout” in their names if you seek to avoid this uncertainty. All MTTs at Tiger Gaming Poker used to be NL Hold’em only, but there are now a few events each day in PLO and PLO/8 formats.

Software Features

You can download the Tiger Gaming Poker client for both Windows machines as well as Macs. There's also a mobile app for iOS and Android users as well as a Flash version that works on pretty much every modern web browser. Non-standard features of the TigerGaming poker download include the ability to create your own private tables, adjust the volume of every different sound effect and configure custom hotkeys. In other respects, TigerGaming’s poker suite is about par for the course with four-color decks, auto rebuy, user-configurable themes and the basic elements that you would expect from any poker application in 2018.

TigerGaming Promotions

The new player bonus is just the first of many rewards that you’ll be able to enjoy as a poker player in good standing with TigerGaming. The organization rolls out the red carpet for both new and existing clients alike. Some of the most noteworthy of the ongoing specials are:

Cash Game Leaderboards

There’s $1,100 up for grabs every day for ring game players who will increase their standing with every single raked hand they play at the tables. Don’t worry; there are six separate divisions ($0.05/$0.10, $0.10/$.25, $0.25/$0.50, $0.50/$1.00, $1/$2, and $2/5+), so you’ll have a good chance of placing as long as you play a decent volume. The top three contestants in each section will take home a cash prize, for 18 winners in all, with larger payouts available the higher the stakes you play.

SNG Leaderboards

Sit-n-go aficionados aren’t left in the cold at TigerGaming. There are four distinct leaderboards depending on if you play HU Hypers, HU Regular/Turbo, 6-player Hypers, or 6- and 9-max Regular+Turbo games. There’s $5,275 to be won each week, and 20 places pay (5 in each section).

Bad Beat Jackpot

At specified Bad Beat Jackpot tables, if you take quad jacks or better to showdown and lose, you’ll receive a huge payday. In order to hit the jackpot, both the winning and losing player must use both hole cards, the hand must go to showdown and at least four players must have been dealt into the hand.

When the Bad Beat Jackpot is paid out, the “loser” of the hand gets 20% of the pot while the winner will get 15%. Another 12.5% is split up among the rest of the table, and 12.5% goes to people seated at other BBJ tables. Then, 35% is dedicated to reseeding the jackpot while 5% is taken by the poker room as an administrative fee. This jackpot is funded by extra rake taken at the rate of $0.10 for every $4 in the pot up to a maximum of $0.50 per hand. Once again, please note, players have a choice of participating in the BBJ by choosing to play on BBJ tables or standard tables – standard tables do not have an additional BBJ rake drop.

The terms of this BBJ promo were significantly worse in the past especially at certain points during 2018 when the site would hold 15% of the total kitty for itself whenever the jackpot was hit! We made a Youtube Video explaining this extortionary tactic, and the leaders of the poker room have since opted to reduce their fee to just 5%.

Comp Points

The comp points you get aren’t just for bonus tracking purposes. You can also use them to buy into specific tournaments. To find out whether the MTT you’re interested in accepts comp points, click on it in the lobby and then press “Register.” If comp points is an option for buying in, then you’ll see the amount of points needed to enter listed along with the normal cash price. The rate at which you can redeem points in this manner is equivalent to 5.7% of the rake paid to amass them in the first place.

TigerGaming Rakeback

There’s no legitimate flat-rate TigerGaming rakeback being offered today, but the welcome bonus effectively functions as a type of rakeback. While you have the first deposit bonus active, you’ll be getting back approximately 20% of the rake you pay. This is comparable to the amount of rakeback you might be able to get at other online poker sites. The downside, of course, is that this is a time-limited benefit that will stop helping your profitability after you’re done with the bonus. On the other side of the coin, TigerGaming offers occasional poker reload bonuses, which will allow you to secure more cashback on your future play.

TigerGaming Territorial Restrictions

Unfortunately, individuals located in certain parts of the world are unable to register an account with TigerGaming. The United States of America is sadly one of these prohibited countries. The others are:

  • Australia
  • Central African Republic
  • Democratic Republic of the Congo

Other TigerGaming Products and Services

The reason you’re reading this review is because you’re a poker player, but we should tell you about the other products that TigerGaming offers in case you wish to broaden your horizons. There’s a comprehensive sportsbook wherein you can wager on athletic competitions, a racebook covering horse races at dozens of tracks, a casino with more than 100 titles, another casino with games dealt by live dealers, and a financial market for betting on currency pairs and other money-related metrics. Good news – you can receive additional bonuses for most of these types of gambling, boosting the amount of free cash that you can liberate from the house’s stock of it.
