Monsters and Grinds

If you’re not familiar with some of the terms that relate to the events within the COPS at, allow us to illuminate you. To begin with, anyone opting to engage in a “Monster” event will see themselves starting out with 10,000 poker chips. This differs in comparison to the 3,000 chips that are usually found in standard poker tourneys. Therefore, the term “monster” relates very appropriately to these events.

As far as the “Grind” events are concerned, these also provide something a little different to the norm. Grind tournaments sees players participate in 12-minute blind levels, and this differs in comparison to the standard 10-minute sessions. So, you get to benefit from a slightly slower pace of play, which will hopefully allow you to bring your card skills to bear a bit more effectively than in faster tourneys.

Satellites Also Available

Satellite Structure

Should you wish to participate in some of the larger COPS events but you don’t really want to pay the high prices attached to them, then you can attempt to gain a seat via the satellites taking place. Other satellites will take place as the COPS continues on with different freebuys providing different guarantees. Four will occur each day from Tuesday, Sept. 8 through to Saturday, Sept. 26. The final two can be found taking place on the last day of the series at 4:00 AM EST and 9:00AM EST respectively. Both offer guarantees of $250 and award 24 x $11 tickets to 50 seat satellites.
