US Sunday Majors Tournament Review; Traffic Spikes On Holiday Weekend (7-7-14)

Full tournament results of all US-facing online poker room Sunday majors on Bovada (the US-facing room on the Bodog Network), the Merge Gaming Network, the Winning Poker Network, the Juicy Stakes Network, Seals With Clubs (independent Bitcoin poker room), and the Equity Poker Network. A review from Sunday, July 6th, 2014 is detailed below.

On the heels of the 238th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence, Sunday player traffic was up across the board from the previous weekend of play. The Equity Poker Network saw the largest percentage increase thanks in part to their $15,000 GTD God Bless America special event.

Bovada | Bodog's traffic increase led to their first Sunday in which an overlay did not occur since April 6th. Intertops and Juicy Stakes' $10,000 GTD Sunday major reached its guarantee for the first time since March 30th. And Merge's $35,000 GTD Super High Roller event breached $50,000 in its overall prize pool for only the second time since April.

The trend in higher player totals comes from an Independence Day this past Friday which saw traffic rise early in the day, only to plummet as the sun set and the fireworks began. Overlays among the tournaments we track were heavy on Friday evening, then returned to basically normal levels for Saturday. Sunday overlays were at their lowest overall total among the tournaments tracked since May 18th, with a grand total of $9,100 in overlays in this past Sunday's action.

There were 606 players who took part in Merge's $125,000 guaranteed Sunday Big Ticket event, which created a $3,800 overlay. It was Shaniac222 taking down the victory, earning $25,818.75 for the first place prize, while thegroupie finished in second place to win $17,125. In third place it was aggr0vated18 who won $10,562.50 for the top three finish.

The Winning Poker Network ran their weekly $50,000 guaranteed tournament this past Sunday with 321 entries, soaring the prize pool to $64,200. The victor was ineedsheet who took down the $13,161 first place money. Magnet0 finished in the second spot to win $8,185.50, while bayoublues placed third to earn $5,778.

240 players entered the Equity Poker Network's special $15,000 GTD God Bless America rebuy/add-on event, producing a $3,200 overlay. Chiggins34 emerged victorious, earning the $3,450 first place prize, with FUGLYFISH taking the second position for a $2,250 score. fisheater rounds out the top three, placing third to win $1,575 for the effort.

Juicy Stakes and Intertops ran its $10,000 guaranteed major on Sunday, and as discussed above, the 86 players entered pushed the prize pool above the stated mark for the first time in months. It was LEDERHOSE claiming victory to win $2,956.24 for first place, with zilber77 finishing second to earn $1,988.75. Third place went to bergade, who won $1,505 to round out the top three.

And finally, the Bitcoin-only Seals With Clubs offered its 10,000-chip guaranteed Sunday major event this past weekend. 43 players entered, with CobaltBlue emerging with the win and the 3,063.75 SWC chips for first place. BamaRollTide took the second position to win 2,042.50 SWC chips, while TheChumba finished up in third place to win 1,429.75 SWC chips.
