The Weekly USA MTT Value | Overlay Report (3/21/14)
Utilizing our own reports, ProfRB.com breaks down and highlights US-facing online poker tournaments that feature overlays from the previous week. Online tournament players looking for an edge to give them the greatest value are bound to find this new weekly MTT Value | Overlay Report full of useful information.
The report below factors all US-facing online poker room | network tournaments featuring guarantees of $5,000 or higher. This is generally the range we track on our MTT Overlay Reports, though we've recently added a few more MTT's on the Winning Poker Network in an effort to better reflect their overall schedule. In addition, we also track several MTT's on the Revolution Network below the $5,000 threshold since only one tournament (the $15,000 GTD Sunday major) on their current schedule eclipses this mark.
In this week's report, the Winning Poker Network saw decreases in overall overlay totals while the rival Merge Gaming Network saw increases for the second straight week. Bovada managed to resume its status quo with no overlays this week, while the Revolution Network saw a pair of overlays on their limited MTT schedule.
Merge Gaming Network: 25 overlays worth $30,180 from Friday, Mar 14th through Thursday, Mar 20th
UP: 8 overlays and $1,730 from last report
As exclusively reported here on ProfRB.com, Merge continues to feel out their new daily MTT schedule and thus far, the results continue to reflect the changes. Merge overlays slightly increased in money total over the past seven days - but the average overlay value itself dropped to nearly $1,200 per instance, down from about $1,670 from last week. Again, this total was bolstered by a $11,600 overlay in their Sunday $100,000 guaranteed Big Ticket tournament, which continues to be a hot spot for large added value for higher stakes players. The schedule will continue to be adjusted; but in the mean time, as stated last week, players can expect a large portion of Merge's MTT's to have the chance to overlay. This means the opportunities for added value will be up for the taking, especially in Saturday and Sunday tournaments. The $5k GTD for $60, which has been moved to 9pm EST as of this article's publishing, is of particular interest as it overlaid in all seven instances last week to the tune of almost $5,000 in added value.
Other MTT's of note: As highlighted in our Merge Network Overlays and Tournament Results page, Merge offers several Sunday offerings for players looking for potential added value. The $12.5k GTD for $33 and $10k GTD for $11 at 4pm EST, along with the $15k GTD $109 at 7pm EST, give players of wide ranging ability ample opportunity for a solid score.
Winning Poker Network: 17 overlays worth $11,770 from Friday, Mar 14th through Thursday, Mar 20th
DOWN: 2 overlays and $18,130 from last report
Without a big overlay in their Sunday $50,000 GTD this past week, WPN saw a dramatic decrease in overlay value for this report. The number of overlays present, however, continue to showcase why WPN is still a place to find plenty of added value. The $12.5k GTD for $27.50, a Monday through Friday staple, continues to be ripe for the picking for mid-stake players looking for an edge. Another one to watch is the work week $15k GTD for $109, and while the buy-in is generally more suited to higher stake types, it showed this past week that when it overlays, it tends to do it big. $3,900 in added value was the tab from this past week in that particular MTT, which covered nearly a third of the overall overlay money amount this week. According to our own Monthly MTT Profit | Loss report, WPN remains quite profitable despite the propensity for overlay opportunities, which should give confidence to players at all stake levels.
Other MTT's of note: As highlighted in our Winning Poker Network Overlays and Tournament Results page, WPN offers a weekly $50,000 GTD on Sunday's (bumped to $100,000 once a month) and a daily $5,000 GTD, which runs at 6pm EST Monday through Friday, and at 2pm EST on Saturday and Sunday.
Bovada Poker (part of Bodog Network): 0 overlays from Friday, Mar 14th through Thursday, Mar 20th

In the grand scheme of things, it's quite rare to see an overlay on Bovada these days. In the last report, we recorded four overlays throughout Bovada's dense MTT schedule - a high point since we started this report. But this week, it's back to its normal routine of no overlays, simply relying on huge MTT offerings across all player pallets that routinely surpass guaranteed amounts. Whatever will a player do for added value? Bovada offers players relatively soft player fields and a plethora of opportunities to hit big scores on any given day of the week. Add in their recent additions to the tournament schedule and several guarantees seeing increases in prize pools (anyone who hasn't seen their Sunday offerings is missing out, to put it mildly), and it's easy to see why Bovada continues to enjoy their seat atop US-facing online poker rooms.
Other MTT's of note: As highlighted in our Bovada Overlays and Tournament Results page, Bovada offers up all kinds of options for every type of tournament player. While not quite at the level of pre-Black Friday offerings for US players, Bovada does offer a $100,000 Sunday MTT that frequently reaches over $150,000 in prize money and is far and away the largest regularly scheduled multi-table tournament available to players from the USA. Pick your poison here, MTT grinders - there's something for everyone.
Revolution Network: 2 overlays worth $90 from Friday, Friday, Mar 14th through Thursday, Mar 20th
DOWN: 1 overlay and up $11 from last report
The MTT schedule on the Revolution Network (we recommend Intertops and Juicy Stakes for US players looking for safe Revolution poker rooms) still leaves a bit to be desired. With only a small amount of tournaments nearing $1,000 GTD or better, you are hard pressed to find overlays. However, the Sunday $15,000 GTD offering has historically shown to be a destination for added value. With player fields generally in the 115-140 range and a tendency to overlay infrequently - usually between $500 to $1,500 when it does, although this week saw no overlay for the second straight week - it's still a solid stop on your Sunday grind. Monday through Saturday, however, the appeal for grinders are the lower player fields in relation to the lower guarantees. There's still money to be made, but there's no comparing the breadth of the current Revolution tournament schedule to rivals on WPN, Bovada, or Merge.
Other MTT's of note: As highlighted in our Revolution Network Overlays and Tournament Results page, bigger guarantees are harder to find. However, several deep-stacked turbo MTT's run daily with guarantees of $700, $850, and $1,000. Rebuy tournaments with $1,000 guaranteed also run, usually at least once daily.
