The Winning Poker Network will be holding Live Cage tournaments at the Taormina Hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica beginning in March 2018. The Live Cage features a buyin of $5,000 + $250. After the inaugural Live Cage in March, additional tournaments are planned for May, July, September, and November 2018. Players will be able to win their $8,000 prize packages online at participating WPN sites, including Americas Cardroom, BlackChip Poker, True Poker, and Ya Poker.
The Live Cage will take its cues from the Winning Network's online weekly The Cage tourney. In The Cage, participants compete with rising blind levels and the ability to be knocked entirely out of the MTT if they lose all their chips. In these respects, The Cage is similar to other multi-table freezeout contests. However, the prize distribution is very different. Instead of playing down to a single winner, the tournament ends after a certain amount of time has elapsed. When the action ends, all remaining players have their stacks exchanged for real money payouts with each chip being worth a stated amount of dollars.
The exact structure of The Live Cage hasn't yet been announced, but it's expected to hew pretty closely to the precedent already set with the normal Cage events. One big difference is that the weekly Cage only costs $1,000 + $50 to enter, so the price for the Live Cage is five times as much.
Every Sunday starting Jan. 7, 2018, Americas Cardroom will be hosting a Beast and Sit & Crush Live Cage satellite at 6 p.m. ET. Each of these qualifiers will award three seats to the Live Cage. It costs $55 to register for these feeder tournaments, but those who place highly on the weekly The Beast and Sit & Crush leaderboards will gain free entry to these satellites. The Beast is basically a rake race for cash game grinders while Sit & Crush fulfills a similar role for sit-n-go enthusiasts.
Everyone who earns a prize package to The Live Cage will receive the following:
Package winners will be able to choose which Live Cage occasion they wish to attend. That is, they can choose to play in the first Live Cage in March or wait awhile and go to one of the subsequent events. However, these packages are non-transferable and have $0 cash value, so they can't be sold to other people.
Located near central San Jose, the Taormina Hotel serves as a well-positioned base for exploring nearby attractions, like the National Museum of Costa Rica and the Central Market. The casino contains more than a dozen poker tables, spreading NL Hold'em every day. There's an on-property Italian restaurant and a sports bar too for all you sports lovers out there. Each room features a mini-bar, flat-screen T.V., and Wi-Fi access.
Log into your Winning Poker Network site of choice today to attempt to score your Live Cage poker getaway. If you've yet to create an account, then we advise you to do so without delay. We highly recommend Americas Cardroom because it grants new players a 100% up to $1,000 first deposit bonus (20% rakeback clearance rate) as well as $50 in free cash credits. Find out all about these offers in our comprehensive Americas Cardroom review. The other network sites have identical welcome bonuses, but they don't provide the $50 in complimentary cash.
