Weekly USA MTT Value | Overlay Report

ProfRB.com breaks down and highlights US-facing online poker tournaments that feature overlays from the previous week.

Online tournament players looking for an edge to give them the greatest value are bound to find this new weekly MTT Value | Overlay Report full of useful information!

The report below factors all US-facing online poker room | network tournaments featuring guarantees of $5,000 or higher. This is generally the range we track on our MTT Overlay Reports, though we've added a few more MTT's on the Winning Poker Network in an effort to better reflect their overall schedule. In addition, we also track several MTT's below the $5,000 threshold on the Equity Poker Network and the Intertops Network since only a few tournaments on their current schedules (the $15,000 GTD Sunday major on Revolution and the $5,000/$10,000 GTD Sunday offerings on EPN) eclipse this mark.

In this week's report, the Winning Poker Network stays on top with increases in overlay dollar amounts, while Bovada saw reduced overlays in a trend continuing over the past couple of weeks. The Equity Poker Network saw instances of overlays jump from the previous week; although the dollar amount remained relatively low. Revolution saw only one overlay (in their signature $15k GTD Sunday event), while the Carbon Gaming Network sported their first overlay in the tournaments we track since reintegration took hold network-wide in early April.

Winning Poker Network: 20 overlays worth $19,289 from Friday, Apr 25th through Thursday, May 1st

UP: 2 overlays and $6,779 from last report

Another week goes by with the Winning Poker Network seeing increases in overlays after what many figured to be a boost from their Online Super Series, which concluded back in early April. Minor schedule tweaks have come and gone on their daily MTT schedule, and a new $20k GTD High Roller event for $530 will debut this coming Sunday. How well it will do is really a guess at this point, as Sundays historically haven't been usual suspects for overlays during lean late spring/early summer months. However, overlays are becoming a daily norm on three particular events; out of 20 offerings of the $2.5k, $4k, and $12.5k GTD tournaments this week, 16 of them overlaid to sport the bulk of the weekly total. The most notable of these MTT's continues to be the $12,500 guaranteed Monday through Friday event, which was also added to Sundays last week. And while it managed to surpass its stated guarantee on the weekend, it struggled mightily in Friday and Thursday action - with Thursday's overlay close to $4,000 as only 307 players took part.

Other MTT's of note: As highlighted in our Winning Poker Network Overlays and Tournament Results page, WPN offers a weekly $50,000 GTD on Sundays (bumped to $100,000 once a month) and a daily $5,000 GTD, which now runs at 8pm EST Monday through Friday, and at 2pm EST on Saturday and Sunday.

Equity Poker Network: 15 overlays worth $2,774 from Friday, Apr 25th through Thursday, May 1st

UP: 3 overlays and $1,016 from last report

We come to our fourth week of recording Equity Poker Network tournaments, and while it's clear the frequency overlays are abundant on their MTT schedule, the dollar amount of said overlays are relatively low. Pokerhost is now fully integrated into the network pool, which has brought a slight boost to overall traffic for the fledgling network and some increased guarantees in the days ahead (a $3k GTD event has been added to Saturdays as well). But since the MTT schedule is still on the smaller size in terms of overall guarantees, it remains light with potential for big scores. Despite this, though, added value seekers should find plenty of lower-buy-in options and with a relatively soft player field, the more skilled player shouldn't have issues making solid money. The tournaments in the graphic above all feature re-entry and add-on options, further favoring the player who enjoys a more intimate setting. And as their schedule continues to shake out (we believe more tournaments and some added guarantees are coming), this is a good time to be in on the ground floor.

Revolution Network: 1 overlay worth $1,500 from Friday, Apr 25th through Thursday, May 1st

DOWN: 3 overlays and $2,525 from last report

The MTT schedule on the Revolution Network (we recommend Intertops and Juicy Stakes for US players looking for safe, secure Revolution poker rooms) continues to leave a bit to be desired. With only a small amount of tournaments nearing $1,000 GTD or better (though one more was added in April - the $27.50 $1k GTD at 2:30pm EST), you are hard pressed to find overlays of substantive value. However, the Sunday $15,000 GTD offering has historically shown to be a destination for added value. With player fields generally in the 115-140 range and a tendency to overlay in streaks (the field rose to 108 players this past Sunday, still good for a $1,500 overlay), it's still a recommended stop on your Sunday grind. Monday through Saturday, however, the appeal for grinders would be the lower player fields in relation to the lower guarantees. There's still money to be made, obviously, which should satisfy the pallets of any type of tournament player.

Other MTT's of note: As highlighted in our Revolution Network Overlays and Tournament Results page, several deep-stacked turbo MTT's run daily with guarantees of $500, $850, and $1,000. Rebuy tournaments with $1,000 guaranteed also run, usually at least once daily.

Bovada Poker (part of Bodog Network): 2 overlays worth $340 from Friday, Apr 25th through Thursday, May 1st

DOWN: 7 overlays and $2,975 from last report

Several tournaments on Bovada's overall daily schedule have seen a few hit and miss overlays over the past few weeks. On the whole, however, things are progressing well for the US-facing arm of the Bodog Network. ProfRB.com expects overlays to continue in rare form as we move forward into the typically slower summer season. But make no mistake - there is a reason why they are still the clear #1 option for US players. Adding an overlay or two to the mix only increases the value of their overall MTT schedule. You'll be hard pressed to find a better place to play online tournament poker, as nearly all of their stated guarantees are surpassed on a daily basis.

Other MTT's of note: As highlighted in our Bovada Overlays and Tournament Results page, Bovada offers up all kinds of options for every type of tournament player. While not quite at the level of pre-Black Friday offerings for US players, Bovada does offer a $100,000 Sunday MTT that frequently reaches over $150,000 in prize money and is far and away the largest regularly scheduled multi-table tournament available to players from the USA in terms of player field. Pick your poison here, MTT grinders - there's something for everyone.

Merge Gaming Network: 1 overlay worth $95 from Friday, Apr 25th through Thursday, May 1st

UP: 1 overlay and $95 from last report

Aside from a solitary $95 overlay, the Merge Network incurred no overlays for the third straight week thanks to recent reintegration across network-wide player pools. Nearly all guarantees are being surpassed, and then some - leading many to believe with the Carbon OPS events beginning this weekend that this could be just the tip of the iceberg. There will be some immediate hurdles in other areas to vault over; as ProfRB.com reported this week, Merge has decided to revamp their VIP system, swapping direct cash bonuses in favor of tournament entries. This could inflate the already surging player traffic heading into OPS, which begins on Sunday, May 4th and continues through Sunday, May 18th. Merge has surpassed the Winning Poker Network in overall traffic and continues to be the #2 option for US tournament and cash game players (h/t to GameIntel.com for the info).

Other MTT's of note: As highlighted in our Merge Network Overlays and Tournament Results page, Merge offers several Sunday offerings for players looking for potential added value. The $12.5k GTD for $33 and $10k GTD for $11 at 4pm EST, along with the $15k GTD $109 at 7pm EST, give players of wide ranging ability ample opportunity for a solid score.
