Weekly USA MTT Value | Overlay Report

ProfRB.com breaks down and highlights US-facing online poker tournaments that feature overlays from the previous week.

Online tournament players looking for an edge to give them the greatest value are bound to find this new weekly MTT Value | Overlay Report full of useful information!

The report below factors all US-facing online poker room | network tournaments featuring guarantees of $5,000 or higher. This is generally the range we track on our MTT Overlay Reports, though we've added a few more MTT's on the Winning Poker Network in an effort to better reflect their overall schedule. In addition, we also track several MTT's below the $5,000 threshold on the Equity Poker Network and the Revolution Network since only a few tournaments on their current schedules (the $15,000 GTD Sunday major on Revolution and the $5,000/$10,000 GTD Sunday offerings on EPN) eclipse this mark.

In this week's report, the Winning Poker Network headed by ACR Poker stays on top with small increases in overlay dollar amounts over last week. Bovada saw a bump in overlays as summer time nears, while the Equity Poker Network saw instances of overlays dip from the previous week yet the dollar amount increased by over half. Revolution saw increases as well in overlays (another occurred in their signature $15k GTD Sunday event), while the Carbon Gaming Network, which remains at the bottom of the list, saw slightly increased overlays from the previous week.

Winning Poker Network: 22 overlays worth $21,685 from Friday, May 2nd through Thursday, May 8th

UP: 2 overlays and $2,396 from last report

Yet another week goes and the Winning Poker Network sees another increase in overlays after what many figured would be a boost from their late March/early April Online Super Series. Minor schedule tweaks have come and gone on their daily MTT schedule, and a new $20k GTD High Roller event for $530 debuted last weekend to the tune of a $43,500 prize pool. It's a confusing trend in one sense - the larger the tournament, the less likely the overlay. WPN's $50,000 and $100,000 Sunday offerings haven't overlaid for some time, yet $2,500 GTD and $4,000 GTD events struggle to reach their stated prize pools on a daily basis. Overlays are becoming the norm on three particular events; the $2.5k, $4k, and $12.5k GTD tournaments this week saw 17 of them, and even the $15,000 GTD got in on the act with a couple overlays. The most notable of these MTT's continues to be the $12,500 guaranteed Monday through Friday event (also runs on Sundays), which neared $12,000 in overlays this past week making it one of the most attractive MTT's for tournament players going today.

Other MTT's of note: As highlighted in our Winning Poker Network Overlays and Tournament Results page, WPN offers a weekly $50,000 GTD on Sundays (bumped to $100,000 once a month) and a daily $5,000 GTD, which now runs at 8pm EST Monday through Friday, and at 2pm EST on Saturday and Sunday.

Equity Poker Network: 12 overlays worth $4,294 from Friday, May 2nd through Thursday, May 8th

DOWN: 3 overlays and UP $1,520 from last report

While the Equity Poker Network has made some increases in stated guarantees across their daily MTT schedule, overlays continue to be present and this was the first week since we began recording EPN where the dollar amount of overlays surpassed $4,000. This is a solid time to pick up some additional value - particularly in weekend events such as the new $3,000 GTD on Saturdays or the bumped up $2,000 GTD event that runs daily. All of the tournaments tracked also offer re-entry and add-on ability within 60-70 minutes of start time. This lends itself to smaller player fields, and as EPN continues to grow and make MTT adjustments, we feel the value is worth the investment.

Seals With Clubs (Bitcoin poker): 1 overlay worth 3,375 SWC chips from Friday, May 2nd through Thursday, May 8th

EVEN: Debut on this week's report

The leading Bitcoin-only online poker site makes its debut on the weekly MTT Value report. We're only including Sunday events for the time being - but one staple that has emerged as a dependable spot for added value overlays is their 20,000-chip guaranteed event for 500 SWC chips. You can only deposit and withdraw with Bitcoins, the increasingly popular yet still volatile crypto-currency - but all play on SWC is straight up poker. Players buy in with SWC chips (1 chip equals 0.001 Bitcoins, no matter the fluctuations in value of Bitcoins) and win SWC chips, so all figures in the above graphic are obviously labeled as such. If you're into Bitcoins and love a wild west feel to the game, then SWC is the best option available.

Revolution Network: 5 overlays worth $3,225 from Friday, May 2nd through Thursday, May 8th

UP: 4 overlays and $1,725 from last report

The MTT schedule on the Revolution Network (we recommend Intertops and Juicy Stakes for US players looking for safe, secure Revolution poker rooms) continues to leave a bit to be desired. With only a small amount of tournaments nearing $1,000 GTD or better (though one more was added in April - the $27.50 $1k GTD at 2:30pm EST), you are hard pressed to find overlays of substantive value on a mass scale. However, the Sunday $15,000 GTD offering has historically shown to be a destination for added value. With player fields generally in the 115-140 range and a tendency to overlay in streaks (the field dipped to just 96 players this past Sunday, good for a $3,000 overlay), it's still a recommended stop on your Sunday grind. Monday through Saturday, however, the appeal for grinders would be the lower player fields in relation to the lower guarantees. There's still money to be made, obviously, which should satisfy the pallets of any type of tournament player.

Other MTT's of note: As highlighted in our Revolution Network Overlays and Tournament Results page, several deep-stacked turbo MTT's run daily with guarantees of $500, $850, and $1,000. Rebuy tournaments with $1,000 guaranteed also run, usually at least once daily.

Bovada Poker (part of Bodog Network): 12 overlays worth $2,611 from Friday, May 2nd through Thursday, May 8th

UP: 10 overlays and $2,271 from last report

Several tournaments on Bovada's overall daily schedule have seen a few hit and miss overlays over the past few weeks. On the whole, however, things are progressing well for the US-facing arm of the Bodog Network. ProfRB.com expects spotty overlays to continue as we move forward into the typically slower summer season. But make no mistake - there is a reason why they are still the clear #1 option for US players. Adding a few overlays, each typically in the $100-$500 range, only increases the value of their overall MTT schedule. You'll be hard pressed to find a better place to play online tournament poker, as nearly all of their stated guarantees are surpassed on a daily basis.

Other MTT's of note: As highlighted in our Bovada Overlays and Tournament Results page, Bovada offers up all kinds of options for every type of tournament player. While not quite at the level of pre-Black Friday offerings for US players, Bovada does offer a $100,000 Sunday MTT that frequently reaches over $150,000 in prize money and is far and away the largest regularly scheduled multi-table tournament available to players from the USA in terms of player field. Pick your poison here, MTT grinders - there's something for everyone.

Merge Gaming Network: 4 overlays worth $2,375 from Friday, May 2nd through Thursday, May 8th

UP: 3 overlays and $2,280 from last report

A slight bump in overlays occured this past week as Carbon's OPS series began this past Sunday. Nearly all guarantees across the board are being surpassed, and then some, however, leading many to believe that the OPS events could be just the tip of the player surge iceberg. There will be some immediate hurdles in other areas to vault over; as ProfRB.com reported a couple weeks ago, Merge revamped their VIP system, swapping direct cash bonuses in favor of tournament entries. This has caused some consternation among a vocal minority but could serve to inflate the OPS player pool, the events of which continue through Sunday, May 18th. When it's all said and done, though, the Merge Gaming Network has surpassed the Winning Poker Network in overall traffic and has firmly secured its place as the #2 option for US tournament and cash game players (h/t to GameIntel.com for the info).

Other MTT's of note: As highlighted in our Merge Network Overlays and Tournament Results page, Merge offers several Sunday offerings for players looking for potential added value. The $12.5k GTD for $33 and $10k GTD for $11 at 4pm EST, along with the $15k GTD $109 at 7pm EST, give players of wide ranging ability ample opportunity for a solid score. (note that some regular Sunday MTT's will not run during Carbon OPS)
