Although Limit Texas Hold'em was once the most popular form of cash game poker in casinos, it has since taken a back seat to its No Limit cousin. It can be tough to find internet poker sites that spread LHE and attract enough players to get games running. Nevertheless, there are a couple of U.S.A.-friendly online poker rooms that feature active Limit Hold'em tables:
Though the fixed-limit betting structure doesn't permit the exciting all-in pots that NL poker has, there are other advantages to LHE. More hands become playable preflop, and the pot odds dictate that you can see more streets and go to showdown more often than in big-bet games. Thus, if you love postflop play and making decisions on the turn and river, Limit Hold'em may be for you.
If you're a beginning player or someone on a limited bankroll, you can stretch your resources further with the fixed bet sizes of limit. With a roll of $200, it would be most unwise to play anything above $0.05/$0.10 blinds in NL format. This would give you 20 buyins, considered by many the absolute minimum you want even with very aggressive bankroll management. Yet, with the same amount of money, you'd be able to play $0.25/$0.50 LHE (with a $0.25 big blind) comfortably without exposing yourself to unnecessary risk.
The landscape for American online Limit Texas Hold'em is a bit sparse, but there are still poker rooms that offer this venerable variant. We've observed the lobbies of the appropriate sites over time to obtain information on how often LHE games can be found and at what stakes. When you sign up at either of our recommended sites for LHE, you'll be treated to fair gameplay, well-designed software, and the speedy payment of your winnings. Read what we have to say below, and then register your account at the site of your choice today.
Ignition Casino Poker, on the PaiWangLuo Network, has Limit Hold'em tables running from $0.05/$0.10 all the way up to $30/$60. All tables are six-handed. The action is pretty spread out between these stakes although you will find more games running at $3/$6 and below than at higher blind levels.
The introduction of the Quick Seat interface to Ignition in April 2017 made things harder for LHE aficionados. You can no longer select the table and seat you want. Instead, you choose what type of game you want to play, and the software automatically puts you in a spot in a matching game. This means that sometimes, you'll find yourself at an empty table if no one else is playing the exact table size and stakes you specify.
If you can't find action right away, we recommend that you open up a variety of tables around the stakes you're interested in. In other words, if you would like to play $3/$6 but there are no games running at that blind level, try $2/$4 and $4/$8, and check out the scene. With any luck, you'll soon be dealt cards in a game with several other users.
Ignition's anonymous card room doesn't identify anyone by screenname. This removes your ability to observe long-term trends in your opponents' behavior, but it also protects you from others doing the same.
The effect on game quality has been beneficial because schools of fish feel comfortable joining the poker fun without being preyed upon by savvy sharks with sophisticated tracking tools. Watch the video below to see how Limit Texas Hold'em works at Ignition:

If you fund your account for the first time with bitcoins, then this bonus grows to 125% up to $1,250. The clearance rate of this bonus is equal to 50% rakeback if you wish to earn it out in Limit Texas Hold'em.
You can play at Ignition from a PC or Mac. There's also a mobile client that works with virtually every modern smart device. Learn how to sign up for the site in our review of Ignition Casino Poker.
Americas Cardroom lists LHE stakes from $0.02/$0.04 through $40/$80. There is a pretty decent mix of low-stakes and high-stakes games going on although there are rarely more than a dozen or so tables active at any one time. All LHE tables are 6-handed. Americas Cardroom is part of the Winning Poker Network.
While competing at the Limit Hold'em tables, you'll qualify for The Beast leaderboard, which pays out more than 100 participants each week. You could pick up free cash as well as satellite tournament entries if you can put in the volume to climb the ranks. However, there probably isn't enough LHE action for you to achieve any success in The Beast unless you combine your limit play with other forms of poker, like NLHE or PLO.
Nevertheless, you'll pick up freebies from the Elite Benefits program as you increase your rake totals. Alternately, you can choose 27% rakeback instead of Elite Benefits. The RB payments will be issued to your account whenever you want at the click of a button.
All newly depositing players at ACR qualify for a 100% up to $1,000 bonus, which is worth 20% rakeback. If you elect to deposit with crypto-currency, however, this bonus becomes a 200% up to $1,000 deal. You can get a free $10 trial, without risking any money of your own, through our special ACR no deposit bonus code PRB10FREE. Then you can deposit later on and get your bonus of up to $1,000.
ACR has software for PCs, Macs, and mobile devices, but the mobile client does not have Limit Hold'em ring games. Head over to our Americas Cardroom review for further details. If you'd like to explore other WPN sites, then check out our reviews of: BlackChip Poker, True Poker.
If neither of the above two places appeals to you for whatever reason, there are a small handful of alternatives. Carbon Poker includes LHE from $0.10/$0.20 to $15/$30 within its poker menu, and there are typically at least a couple of tables active. Yet, there are solid reasons for avoiding this semi-shady site, which we go into in our Carbon Poker Review, so we counsel you to steer clear of Carbon unless you feel like taking a risk.
Every once in a while, there's Limit Hold'em at Bitcoin-only sites Nitrogen Sports and SwCPoker, but you won't be able to count on finding a game whenever you want at these destinations. SwC does offer the possibility of playing LHE as part of a rotation in HORSE and other mixed formats, but, again, you can't rely on being able to jump onto a table at your leisure. Finally, Intertops has Limit Hold'em at a wide range of blind levels, but the low traffic level at this room means that there's seldom more than a game or two running, and sometimes there's no populated LHE table to be found.
Having read what we have to say about the leading internet poker sites for Limit Hold'em games, you can now make an informed decision. Remember that you can always browse over to our reviews if you seek further illumination on the LHE poker rooms that are available to you.
When you see two numbers representing the Limit Hold'em stakes, like $1/$2 or $5/$10, the first number represents the small bet amount, used preflop and on the flop, and the second is the big bet, which is the amount players can bet or raise on the turn and river. The big blind is equal to the small bet, so for $5/$10, the big blind would be $5.
The small blind is generally half the size of the big blind, but this is sometimes rounded up or down to make the numbers work out more evenly. For instance, in a $5/$10 limit game with a $5 big blind, the small blind is usually $2 because it would be awkward to denominate it at $2.50 although this is truer in live games than online.
Most limit players, when speaking about winrates, use the form 1.5BB/100 or similar. This “BB” can be confusing because it stands for big bets rather than big blinds. The “/100” means “per 100 hands.” So 1.5BB/100 means 1.5 big bets (3 big blinds) per 100 hands.
Yes, all the major poker packages that track results and display HUDs for NL also work in Limit Hold'em. You can read our reviews of some of the most popular tracking programs to find out more: PokerTracker 4 review, Holdem Manager 2 review, Holdem Indicator and iHoldem Indicator review.
